Has anyone else had trouble finding Pennzoil 10w 60 ? This is the oil that Ferrari uses at service. Other than the Ferrari dealer, I have not found anyone that has or can get this oil for my 458 Speciale. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Also, the manual recommends Penzoil 5W-60, why are you wanting to use 10W-60?

Ah, interesting. I wonder why the dealer uses 10W-60 instead of what’s in the manual.

I don’t know but I’ll check and see what they say.

Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login I obtained a spare owner’s manual for a 2015 458 Speciale with a printing date of October 2014, 2nd edition. On page 35 Pennzoil Platinum Racing 10w-60 is the recommended oil. This is different than the 2015 458 Speciale owner’s manual that came with my car, printing date June 2014 which recommends Pennzoil Platinum 5w-40. Since the Ferrari dealer that performed the oil change under the 7 year service plan used Pennzoil Platinum Racing 10w-60, that is the oil I am going to use while the car is under the 7 year service plan.

I think Castrol has a synthetic in 10w-60. It was what was recommended for my e39 M-5. That car was “designed” to drink up to a quart every 1000 miles, so I used to buy it by the case.

Yes, castrol sells a 10W-60 oil. Very common in that generation of BMW (early to mid 2000s). It is also apparently certified for Koenigsegg

The interesting question should be. Why do you want to use an oil that foams as much as the Penzoil? Poor lubrication and oil pressure control.

Now as for using 10w60 in an engine that was designed to run between 0w30 and 5w40 depending on climate etc. is just nuts. I wonder if they got it on some kind of discount... At any rate, that's way too thick

Just get who ever changes your oil to use Royal Purple 5w40. Great oil and no more foam.

Just dump some olive oil in, it’s Italian, it should work great.
