I order parts from the UK all the time for my TR8. Heck, Rimmer Brothers stuff ships faster than some domestic options. I do not recall shipping costs being an issue at all.
They usually ship via Royal Mail in the UK which converts over to USPS here. Usually arrives within a week to NY.
Dave, I can get my crank resized 10 under for $500. I did look at that used one but who knows what condition it is in so I think I will have mine machined.
Superformance has great prices, speedy shipping and good packaging. I recommend them mainly for Hill Engineering parts. Eurospares has a parts list that blows them to kingdom come, better customer care plus international priority shipping + tracking number + insurance. Only two UK companies I bought from. Bought parts a couple of years ago from Ricambi America for my Mondial: impeccable in every single way. But then again, north-american customer care beats any european company I've ever dealt with, so personally it wasn't a great surprise that they rock. Only problem for us Europeans: Customs (not Ricambi's fault, obviously). Kind regards, Nuno.
Really? I have ordered all kinds of stuff and never had such a bill. Excuse me while I go check my mail
I have ordered all kinds of stuff too, the charge was minimal but real, depends on what you get but US customs hit me with a bill I believe it was ups or fed ex.
I've had mixed results with both Superformance and Eurospares. Sometimes the part price, postage price, postage time and communication is great from these companies. Othertimes, you get wrong parts, damaged parts (but package ok), frustrating communication and long mail times. Returning parts can get expensive, so, in some cases, you lose the benefit of purchasing often cheaper UK-sourced parts. However, sometimes they will allow you to keep the wrong part (if it's their error and the part is relatively cheap), so no postage return costs... good if you're not in a hurry for the right part.
Maybe they feel sorry for me because i own a lowly Triumph TR8. But they stick it to you Ferrari types. I know I would.
To answer the original question. I have dealt with Superformance (Superformance.co.uk) for many years and have visited the office/warehouse a few times. Always been very good and Chloe has been excellent in getting my stuff out quickly. So my sourcing is typically... FChat Superformance Ricambi Eurospares eBay = but often more expensive than the above.
I've used Superformance and Eurospares a number of times and never had a problem with either. Don't forget Maranello (https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk), they are also incredibly helpful and patient. I'm in the UK, so don't have to deal with import taxes from those UK-based suppliers, but parts seem generally more expensive on the other side of the pond anyway - except suspension bushes, which I've imported from US to UK and had to pay a small FedEx customs bill for.
i have purchased from them many times over the last 10 years. first for my 308 including all the parts for the major service and now for the major on my f355. the only thing i did not like was the waterpump for my 355. the nut it came with fit much too lose for my liking and the correct nut is unobtanium. apparently there is a hardship to get nylock in the size stud they use. i want to say prince and reid but i dont think that to be correct. regardless , you are paying in pounds sterling so expect the bill to cost about 20% more currently. know that ferrari of England has bought the rights to reproduce antique ferrari parts for ferrari. it only makes sense that the parts cost less over the pond
Quite often I have found that if you don't need it the next day the low prices offered offset the cost of shipping. Always quality parts and shipping time is not horrible from the UK.
I have tried them multiple times and will not again. Out of 7 orders, I had 3 with issues. For my throw out bearing seals, they sent non-genuine parts (although ferrari part numbers listed on their website) which were slightly different sizes. They leaked and caused me all kinds of headaches trying to work out what was wrong. For my driveshaft axle seal, they sent me the wrong side (even though I have them the correct part number). As they are a directional seal, they pumped out out of the gearbox. They ended up sending the same one again. 3rd time they sent a generic non-directional seal (again non-genuine) part. It worked but not correct. Lastly, the gasket for under the inlet manifold was non-genuine although it was listed as genuine. This did not fit well and needed some extra chopping. All of these issues took time to resolve and wait time on international post. Lesson learnt.
