Hello, new to the forum and newly became a Ferrari owner. I purchased an F8 about 2 months ago and I have been having an issue with the panel gap that meets the hood, grill and wheel arch on the passenger side. The Ferrari dealer I purchased it from said that they could not do much about it because that is just how it is manufactured, I find it hard to believe on a car this expensive, that it would be misaligned and the other side it is fine. I am curious if anyone else has had gap issues, or if anyone has any advice. Thank you for your help.

Check for paint work and replaced parts. Could have been damaged and repaired at port without the dealer or Ferrari NA knowing. Wouldn't be the first time. Paint meter and a good detail shop could uncover a lot. I've never seen panels line up that way from the factory on modern cars outside of a Tesla or a GM product.

Dunno, I saw a Rosso Scuderia F8 Spider at a dealer last week and the fit around the front driver headlight left a lot to be desired. I even pointed it out to my wife (probably a mistake in retrospect) who asked why do you buy these cars? Didn’t help my cause that I just locked in a spec for one.

in defense of Ferrari, my 2013 Spider with 25k miles has less squeaks and rattles than my wife’s 2019 Merc. And her’s has been in and out of the dealer four times. Me……zero (for repairs). Sad, but true.

Still, that looks worse than I would have expected.

I've seen some co e in with misaligned boot lids, but those, were fixed in 20 minutes or less. That there looks really odd. Seen a lot of F8's and 488's and never seen that. Something's off.
Wk der if the car is twisted after a severe impact.

If the dealer won’t help, call FNA. I would bring this into the dealer and tell them to fix it under warranty.

Yes, this is pretty gross. Not sure how they can say this is it.

Find the repair shop that handles Ferrari's in your area. In the past I spent something like $800 to have a front bumper better aligned. I'm OCD enough that I found $800 in value for a proper fit.

I am attaching two photos from my F8 - just took delivery also about two months ago - for comparison. I would agree that your gap does seem "off". However, I would doubt that it was due to an unreported accident at the port. Unlike the major car companies, Ferrari is only importing handfuls of cars each week - not thousands. I know on the East Coast there is a Ferrari inspector. If any one car is damaged on a particular shipment (which could happen), then all cars on that shipment are held up at the port until all are completely inspected and certified. Also, the cars come into a bonded area, so there is no way a car is taken out to a body shop without Ferrari knowing about it - too much paperwork, insurance, etc. So, if you car was damaged at the port, then Ferrari would be involved and you would have been notified. I would try to work with your dealer to get the issue resolved - contact the sales manager.

Completely unacceptable. I would do whatever had to be done to have it corrected.

can you take an additional photo from further away to give it some context as to where it is exactly?

Was this purchase of a brand new car, or a preowned vehicle?

Definitely something awry there, that’s not even close to acceptable.

Mine are not great in that same area (F8 Spider). Doubt it's an accident or anything "serious", I think it is just poor QC.

I had some panel gaps on my front and rear panels on my 458 that annoyed me some time ago. Have a friend who has painted, repaired etc. Ferrari cars. He did both front panels for me and they look exceptional. Haven't done the rear as they are hardly noticeable. . The job look approximately 2 hrs. Is your F8 a new car or did you buy it used? Reason I ask is many owners lower the cars, wider wheels etc and actually will alter the gaps. Gaps were terrible on early Californias from the factory. You wouldn't think the F8 would have quality issues with panel fit,and the old antage it's had built doesn't cut it.

Hi Justin. It’s a common issue for F8’s not prepped as well as they should be and it is a 20 min fix. The dealer only needs to remove the inner black trim and adjust two bolts. Mine was done while I waited (and watched) and I have had no other issues. Will send you pics shortly…

I've always kind of felt that spotting perfect panel gaps on a Ferrari was a sign it's been hit and repaired ;)

    That is pretty egregious, though.

As Ferrari has strived to ramp up the number of cars they produce per year, it seems like issues such as these are becoming more common. I know on my 458 and 488, there were definitely small things on both cars which appeared to me to be as a result of someone on the assembly line not having enough time to do the job properly before having to move on to the next car or something.

As mentioned, you can probably loosen some fixing bolt and make adjustments to those panels.

    Simple fix (see post #17).

the real issue here is the poor initial response from the supplying dealer, that’s all.

Unfortunate a new F8 can be delivered this way...even more unfortunate your (selling) dealer could simply shrug his shoulders and say "it is what it is" for what is probably a simple fix / adjustment on a $350K exotic.

As an aside, a colleague just picked up a new Jeep Trackhawk and showed me pictures of various panel gaps which could only be explained by small children assembling the vehicle using Elmers Glue. He paid $$$$ to have an independent shop remove / replace / adjust every body panel-

that looks like a good bump on the road would cause paint damage or worse
