    Hi Guys,

Due to a fumble-footed maneuver in my garage involving an untied pair of sneakers, I now have an ever so slight dent in the front bonnet of my ' 82 308 GTSi, courtesy of my stupidity and my elbow, 7 " up from the leading edge, maybe 12" from the passenger side (nowhere near the underhood cross- brace).

The bad news is, it appears to be slightly creased,

    but,

The good news is, the crease is so slight as to be almost unnoticeable from certain angles, and when I put errant hand pressure underneath the bonnet in the exact measured spot of the dent, it TOTALLY dissappears for the time that I'm pressing. It isn't NEAR the severity of the dreaded "forget to release the strut" reverse/outward dent. It appears to have almost no depth at all. Paint isn't compromised at all, and the car has perfect, uniform paint on it at the site and everywhere else.

Question: Can a REALLY GOOD paintess dent guy suction this out ? Or can it be knurled out from underneath ?, although the interior satin black side of the hood appears to maybe be a seperate piece of sheet, even though pressure upon it does make the surface dent disappear. Suggestions ? I'd like to avoid re-spraying the whole bonnet since it is perfect otherwise as is the rest of the car.

... and the trigonometry nun in catholic high school always told me to stop walking around with untied shoes ... :)

    Art,

Relax. Take your car to Dent Wizard (or similar). They can fix it. I'm certain of it.

Now the next time, remember what the nun told you!

    Art,

Definitely. I had a very similar thing fixed about a year ago. The guy I used was great. he was able to do a nice quality job. He's from NJ, but any good person can get it done. If you need a number PM me and I'll get it to ya. Mike

I recently had a door ding removed from my F430 and there is NO WAY you can ever tell there was any damage there. I mean...I look real close and I ask others to look. Nobody can find anything. One day there's a door ding, the next day... nothing.

So, whatever magic these guys have in their bag of tricks, I'm sure they can help you out. I strongly suggest trying it. I'm sure experience is a big plus.

In my experience aluminium panels don't "pop out" like steel... aluminium is much softer and doesn't like to go back to it's original form...but give it a shot...

    Best,

That's right, Tom. The technician must have experience working with aluminum. My "Dent Wizard," Bruno, is frequently called in by FoCNJ and is proficient with aluminum. He did my 550 a few month ago...the usual minor dings on the right rear quarter panel near the gas filler. It's like it never happened.

It's pretty cool to watch these dent removal guys work. They use what they call 'spoons' (exactly what they look like) on a sort of ultrasonic vibrator imbiblical. They actually massage the dents/creases out from the inside of the panels, which is why if it can't be accessed from the inside of the panel or it's on a seam, they usually can't get it out. Talk about experience..........I bought a Miaita years ago for a fire sale price because it had been caught in a Texas hailstorm (golfball sized hail). The dent guy counted 107 dents to remove (the car was white, hence I named it 'Titleist'), and to my amazement he was able to remove all of the dents ($850). It works and is worth every penny over regular body shop work.
