    Hi,

I am looking at a 488 GTB rossa scuderia that currently has a black roof. I realize this was an expensive option, BUT if I want the full car in red, is it possible to paint over the black roof?

or is it possible to wrap the black roof red?

Curious to hear what is possible, could I get the color to match exactly, other considerations, etc.

    thank you in advance.

Paint..no , I personally wouldn't do that..not that it matters what I think. Best option I would think is a good wrap job. Some of these are really good.

I would wait until you find the right color 488, there is nothing like the factory paint job. I agree with you on wanting the all red option, If I was in the market for one, thats what I would buy, no matter what the color was. The car looks best in all one color.

I'd say get a red one and get the roof wrapped. A good quality wrap can look very good, and you will not be able to tell it's there. Dragtime guy had it done on his SF90 after the dealership (or Ferrari, we will never know) messed up his order.

It is very unlikely you will be able to find a wrap that matches the paint. Even in the unlikely case the colors match, the textures won’t. The roof and the rest of the car will look different. You would need to wrap the entire car red.

I would wait and find a car that is one color.

How much did the optional black roof cost? Mine has it on my spider.

Yes, that's what I've now found out, wouldn't be an exact match, which is a dealbreaker.

thanks for all the sound advice.

So I was in your exact same situation when I was looking for my 458. Really wanted a fully red car because I thought it'd look prettier. A wrap place was kind enough to tell me that the wrap would never quite match the rest of the car. Yes you can paint over it but there's no going back and you're deleting an $11,000 option.

Despite wanting a red roof I bought a car with a black one and I've come to love my black roof. I'm very glad I have it.

I would either get the GTB with a black roof and leave it -- knowing there is a very high chance you'll love it. Or wait to find that perfect spec. It took me about a year to find my Italia so I know what it's like trying to find that "perfect car". At some point you have to compromise on something.

Good advice above. Wait for an all-red car, although if you’re committed to Rosso Scuderia…that may limit your choices. Does the car in question have black wheels? If so, its Nero roof is a great match.

Personally, I love the black roof scheme on these cars!

Hi everyone im into process of buying a 488 spider in germany and the car was ordered originally in two tone color , Giallo with black convertible roof, but the Tonneau was originally in Giallo than painted by costumer into black, the car is in ferrari dealership. I’m a bit worried that the tonneau part is painted because of damage or etc. otherwise he would have wrapped. P.S the costumer also installed a radar jammer which will be removed by ferrari !

I wouldn't suspect damage at all (unless you see signs of a poor repair)... I would never wrap my car either, If I wanted that part in black that badly, I would paint it.,, as an example. Sounds like the owner liked to do things right. Wrap just looks terrible on every car and makes it look cheap... the BEST option for this mod these days would be to do it in black PPF but that probably didn't exist yet when he changed it black

I can understand your point, but the owner is the first owner, i mean i would have ordered that in black instead of painting. The other point is i dont know if anyone would believe me later if im going to sell the car, as in Germany public belief is foreigners don’t know how to maintain a car and im migrant here :( But i must say i love the car, maybe i should just follow my love and dnt care ( the car is a bit on upper price segment) 269k Euro with 17 k km .

when the black roof option is selected, doesnt that typically include the tonneau cover? I know its available but when I have seen the option, I've never seen it otherwise, with the exception of one of the 2018 70th anniversary. I went the other way to offset the monotone of the color and did the black roof only (no tonneau). Its PPF wrap - stek.com. VERY different from regular PPF which when gloss has a lot of orange peel.

Pure PPF makes a lot of color choices, including a couple of yellows - be a shot in the dark if it matches, but often times they will use a factory color as a reference to the colors. https://www.pureprotectionfilm.com/samples
