Just wondering if this was ever a factory option i.e. to have the black TS roof painted the same colour as the car

Also, who's painted their TS roof? Photos greatly appreciated.

I'm in the process of painting mine right now. Easiest way is to rough the surface then go heavy with primer and block out the primer so you don't have to sand down the texture of the roof. In my opinion its the best look for the TS, to have all the black color matched.

Mine is painted, but a black car, ('91,) so doesn't make much difference to the look.

It does look so much better colour coded, but storing the roof behind the seats can up ends up the chipping the paint. My solution is leaving it out home & trusting google weather.

It should have a bag that poppers onto the shelf.

Yes, the seats can rub and damage the paint if you run them back too far so my solution is to own a painted one and an unpainted black one. The black one stays behind the seats in case of rain or if I have to stop somewhere and need the roof on and the painted one is either on the car or taken off and left at home. The painted one never goes behind the seats.
