I want to have my Merak repainted and was wondering if anyone has any experience with paint shops in the Austin area. Any info appreciated. Mike.
Check out Berli's in Pflugerville. They did work on my wife's Miata and it came out better than factory. They were referred to us by someone at Ferrari of Austin. Berli's is the finest certified auto body and collision repair of BMW, Mercedes Benz, Lexus, Land Rover, Viper, and Prowler in Austin, Texas.
Have used many of them including Berli's, but for my money the best paint and body shop in town is Precision Auto Body on Lyons Road in Austin. Ask for Rey Hernandez, the owner. It is a small shop that does both regular production and very high dollar cars. I recommended Precision for some paint touch up work needed on a 100 point Mercedes Gullwing that Berli's wouldn't touch. Rey did the work and the owner was very, very pleased. I should add that I restore Ferrari's for my own collection so I know quality paint and body when I see it.
Thanks for the info Fastcars575. I will also check Precision Auto Body out and ask for Rey Hernandez. Mike.
Best of luck. Feel free to tell him that Kevin sent you. Be sure and have him work up a number of sprayed panels for you to look at in various light conditions. It's incredible how many variations of the same color auto makers used, and they can look quite different depending on the light. Are you redoing the interior also?
Yes most of the interior is done. I used the Leatherique and Color Plus Systems to rejuvenate and re-dye (same color) the leather. Both these systems are essentially the same. I have bought new Wilton carpet which needs to be cut and edges bound. I rebuilt the carbs are they and ready for installation. Slow but I am getting there. Have attached a few pics. Mike. Yes, I use the Leatherique products too with great success. George has been most helpful over the years. I believe in his products. Your carb rebuild looks fantastic. Great work!
