My beloved wife just bought a red Acura TSX (stick!) and the dealer wanted about $1100 to apply the clear film to protect the door jambs and the front. It might be nice to protect the new paint.

Has anyone used a good vendor in Seattle that I can contact? Are the films worthwhile?

    Thanks, Gregg

    Metropolitan Detail in Bellevue.

I'm sure the price will be the same or more, but the workmanship is outstanding. I have a full front bra on my 430 and you can't tell there is anything there.

The films are worthwhile if you care about rock chips, etc.

Thanks Steve. Yes we would love to help out, and we use Xpel's Self Healing Ultimate Film. The best film on the market, and YES we will be less money than the dealership. ;)

Big thumbs up for Metropolitan Detail and their Xpel film. Worked out great on my black metallic 328 this summer and the price was certainly competitive. Now I don't have to worry as much as I was about the odd little nick and ding.

Superior service, outstanding product. What more do you want? :)

I really love FerrariChat! Thanks all for taking the time to respond, I will get on the phone and schedule an estimate. It might be after the holidays, but I do want to get it done while it is still pristine!

Get protective wax on it ASAP. I had a full front done to one of my cars and on the drive home on 405 a car in front of me turned on their windshield sprayer/washer and their spray blew over their car to mine. I don't know what kind of chemical was in the washer fluid but it permanently scarred the 3M Ventureshield! It looks like waterdrops etched in the entire film surface -and they don't buff out - they tried! If have the film on a couple of my cars over the last 10 years and I have never seen this type of damage before. No effect on the cars paint, only the film was damaged. Even had the 3M Rep look at it because they couldn't believe it was damaged from something encountered out on the highway. 3M is paying for the redo.

I have the Xpel interior films/tinting applied & the film manufacturer says that if you use Ammonia based cleaners it will cause clouding/damage to the film. Might be what you experienced?

Another thumbs up from me for the guys at Metropolitan Detail. They've done all my cars for quite some time and I've never been let down. BJ is the king when it comes to applying any type of clear film.

The 3M rep examined it and is not sure what damaged it. It wasn't clouded, there are "rain drops" of damage all over the film on the car. I have accidently gotten ammonia based cleaners on film before and have never seen damage embedded/etched into the film like this before.

I would love to find out what actually got on the car. But probably never going to know, so I will be thankful that i have not followed somebody spewing toxic chemicals to damage my baby!

I appreciate your single positive experience but Jay Debrule has had numerous staff problems, departures, returns, supplier issues. Drive with the 6 speed Porsche folks and you'll hear much more.

Metropolitan detail stands behind their work and have replaced soiled wraps for free that were not their fault. Amazing quality and support.

At E@RTC I heard about a $1200 detail job that NWA did on a red 12 cylinder Ferrari Daytona (or boxster?) where the customer complained about swirls and they told him basically they didn't even want to see it or talk about it because they knew their work was perfect and F.U. if you complain.
Did not even want to talk to the guy who paid $1200 or see it? WTF
