Hi guys, so it seems my Huayra has an issue with the second gear synchro or some other quite basic issue.

The gearbox is made by X-trac who obviously can rebuild anything … but get this … they have a contractual agreement with Pagani that they aren’t allowed to provide service for Pagani customers.

So Pagani are saying the only fix for something that might be a $1,000 part is to buy an entire new gearbox at a cost of over €100,000.

I don’t know if there are any lawyers out there but is this even legal? I would have thought there are consumer protections on this. The car is outside the warranty period, so maybe there aren’t, but just curious if anyone else has come across anything similar.

I can’t imagine that if something simple goes wrong with your F-150 engine the month after the warranty expires that Ford could legally tell you you have to buy a new engine.

There must be highly competent specialists outside of X-trac and Pagani who can service the gearbox. Doesn't the Huayra use a single-clutch unit? If so, that would make servicing substantially more straightforward (under my 3rd-grade-level understanding of gearbox engineering) than a DCT.

I wonder if Jimmy Repasi can service it for you. His intimate knowledge of Carrera GTs could be a good starting point.

Cash talks. Talk to X-Trac on the side and use no tracible funds and I'm sure they'll maybe play ball. Money talks BS walks. Beyond that, was there any legal documents you signed with Pagani when you purchased the car regarding this?

  4. Yes, it is legal.

This sounds like a right to repair issue, but if you don't want to raise a legal stink, have you contacted any other Pagani dealers? It can be quite shocking how differently some service centres will approach a fix and find a solution. Any dealer that would direct me to replacing an entire gearbox for something like a synchro issue, without attempting an alternative fix, would lose my business forever.

Otherwise, I would imagine the internals are the same for many models of the X Trac gearboxes, so finding the appropriate part might not be too difficult (i.e., possibly out of an Aventador?).

Lastly, there was an entire transaxle on BAT that sold for $9,000 last year... Surely more than you probably should have to spend, but that would sure beat dropping $100k, even if you just use it for donor parts.

Might say to Pagani that you'd like to retain the car's original transmission case, if possible - and for understandable reasons. If not (for whatever reason?) - would guess there would be a core exchange to offer some relief to the 100K hit ...?

Yes but that BAT gearbox had a similar issue with 5th gear, obviously some guy that was in the same predicament!

There was a similar thread in the Ferrari California section. Someone with a faulty California transmission said Ferrari's only option was full replacement at $77k.

yikes .... same deal with the engine? o_O Pagani didn't build it, Mercedes-AMG did.

  11. LOL.

How many Pagani dealers do you think there are in a given country, much less region of that country?

    These aren't exactly Toyota's.

Contact a racing team that uses Xtrac’s in their cars , they will be able to help you . Replacing the entire transmission for a gear issue is total nonsense and cash grab . This does not reflect very well on pagani

So I had a call yesterday with Pagani and they folded on allowing Xtrac to talk to me and they will give me pricing on a replacement gearbox and an upgrade to Huayra BC gearbox. My preference is to have it repaired.

xtrac quote on repair is £5,000, better than €120,000!
