    Hey All,

    2008 599

The car has a history of being overfilled on oil twice (by reputable Ferrari dealers). It’s throwing codes P2177 and P2179 and loses power when driving so I had to limp it a mile home yesterday. I cleaned intake system and throttle body and MAFs well when I did the oil change last year. I’ve driven it without issue a good 500 miles in the last few months. The codes are on right bank (attached).

I’m thinking this is a MAF issue: when I disconnect the right MAF wire connector, the car starts fine with steady idle. When MAF connector is plugged in, it has an oscillating idle from about 600-1200 RPMs, but once green “check ok” light comes on, then the idle stabilizes. I swapped out the MAF sensor with one from my F430 and same issue, wondering idle (yes, the MAF sensors are same Bosch part #).

    Thoughts?

Update: I put my smoker into this line (below) which I think is evap line. It goes into intake plenum just after the throttle body. Smoke is coming out of right fender vent. I cannot see what’s going to that area of the car and I’ve never been there. Anyone have ideas on what the leak could be or how to access it? The two hoses with red lines attach to the scoop that exists through that vent. So the smoke made a full circulation without any leaks in engine bay. I’m researching if the system is always closed or open, as maybe a one way valve isn’t working right. If anyone knows, let me know please!

Wow sorry to hear the problems. Crazy how the dealers screw up like this. Its why I do my own oil changes on my 599 to all the other ones. I hope you get it sorted out.

No smoke detected in engine bay. I’m thinking the smoke from the side vent is correct due to being post solenoid. But, maybe I’m wrong and smoke should never escape this system.

By swapping o2 sensors, the problem followed to the other side. I’ll put in new o2 sensors and all should be good.

For anyone interested, I’ll be making a thread on installing oil catch cans too. Somewhat related to this topic due to MAFs. A friend will be helping me design and fabricate mounts.
