    Hi

My 2013 Cali 30 went into limp mode with engine light on and lots of other warnings, 150miles into a weekend away. It didn't reset on the key or battery disconnect. I had the codes read at the roadside as P2140, once cleared came back almost instantly. I limped the car home and rechecked for codes, same codes and wouldn't clear and ran roughly.

I changed cars and carried on for my weekend away and left the car in my garage.

On return the car started with no faults showing, it ran roughly for a few minutes so I did an ecu relearn and then it seems to run OK. I'm not 100% sure thats its running quite right though but equally I'm suffering big bill paranoia.

The car has 13000 miles on it, I've taken the hoses off and both throttle bodies are clean and dry, no visible corrosion on the connectors. I've taken the pedal assembly out and the wiring is a bit short behind it but again all looks good connector wise.

All the live data looks ok, pedal voltages 1: 0.5 ratio look close and run up and down and throttle body opens albeit at different percentages the pedal, my Autel doesnt have throttle body voltages just a %.

I posted on the California forum but though i'd put it here incase anyone had any advice as where to look next.

Well there is always a weak battery.. but in your case I would focus on looking at live data when issue occurs
I think this is a hot condition on TPS .. but only a guess
The live data if and when it happens again will tell you .. you are on the right path

I have replaced a couple throttle pedals for the issue you are experiencing. They are a cheaply made part..wouldn't at all be surprised if they are a Dodge part to be honest.

I thought I’d carry on the story, it might help someone in the future. The car ran ok on the last couple off runs last year before I put it away for the winter (on a battery maintainer) First run out this year it ran ok for the first half hour and then suddenly made a noise like £1000’s going down a drain. I restarted the car, it ran better but in limp mode. Limped home and read codes, most cleared out but one active code remained p0104 on rhs ecu. I tried to clear the code but it returned even without starting. I swapped mafs about and the fault shifted to the other side. I’m waiting for the new maf to arrive and I’ll report back what happens

The P2140 code hasn't returned (yet). I've only done 50 miles since the fault which has now transformed into a MAF failure. My new MAF arrived today and the code cleared immediatley. I'll give it a run after lunch and see what happens.

Interestingly, the only other similar reference to the p2140 fault I found online was on the Maserati Ghibli forum and it turned out to me a MAF in that case.

Test drive competed and it looks like the Maf was the problem. Let’s see how the next few drive cycles go
