Interesting news!
hello. it is nice to see that the car will not be hidden away. Pikes Peak is great idea considering the renewed interest from the rest of the world for the event. By seeing the evolution of the P33 project to both sports and race car i'v just wondered about the LMP1 and grand am projects. It seems you've put them aside, which is totally understandable considering the huge amount of money needed to build such an effort properly. Moreover we haven't seen great interest from American sponsorships for lmp1. Rebellion Racing has an estimated budgect of 5,5 to 6 million euros for a season with chassis they have owned since 3 years... I just can't imagine how much more money is needed to design an lmp from scratch. The 2014 Perrinn prototype project has an estmated value of 1,5 million euros. As far as the grand am is concerned i'm sure you could use a dallara or riley chassis. But you haven't confirmed anything yet. I assume it is better to focus on the projects where you'll be more likely to be totally involved and share passion with a small team rather than being flooded by incomprehensible financial, technical and logistical considerations of a big racing project. All the best.
Peugeot 208 T16 : on board with Seb Loeb at Pikes Peak (Option Auto) - YouTube Imagine P4/5 up that hill, this fast... wow..
Full day of testing. Car is totally amazing. With rear view screens and mini I pad screens very jet fighter. We also went on skid pad which was wild. The grip is beyond belief. The aero comes on at 100kph and is Fantastico!
We had very good meetings and our next one off is moving along and very likely will include a race version as well.
We were testing on the dynamic handling course at Bolocco/FIAT which has two straights connected to a huge skid pad. This one is amazing. The mechanical grip 2.8 G's+ transistions to aero very seamlessly and there is no body roll at all. The our street tires are from Pirelli and designed for our car and set up. As this track is official and secret we weren't allowed to take any photo's at all but we did have an official photo secession the next day at The Royal Hunting Lodge in Stupinigi. Jim, I realize you aren't concerned about tire wear from a replacement standpoint, but I'm curious as to how long one can expect "street" tires to last when they're designed for a car that can sustain 2.8Gs + additional aero grip. Super excited to see the race-road transition come to fruition. Post a video soon!
I'm going to tell that to my wife. Me burning through tyres every 18k miles doesn't seem so bad now. All the best, Andrew.
