My 87' 328 is suddenly running rough and won't idle. Heard there's a good chance it's the oxygen sensor relay. Does anyone know how to test this, I'm guessing the relay is under the dash on the passenger side with the other relay's and fuses?

Ken, it is located in the far right corner of the trunk on the underside of the fuel injection control panel and is held in place by 4 bolts. The quick way to check it is to see if the frequency valve is buzzing and active. It is located to the left side of the fuel distributor head. You can also unplug it while the car is running to see if a change occurs or not. If it is working then no need to look further in the trunk. If it is not operating then most likely yes it is the relay which is an old Porsche 928 relay with a fuse on top. The relay has been updated and like many fuel injection parts for these cars, it's getting harder and harder to locate replacements.

Another name for that relay is the "Protection Relay" -- you'll get a better search result for prior threads/discussion using that name.

Steve, found your post from 2009 and attached the schematic you included. The schematic is imprinted on this part #928 615 124 00 I removed from the car. Then found your detailed testing instructions from 2011, Sunsetporscheparts has it for $73. Thanks Steve and Greg!
