I'm sure there are numerous members here with multiple exotics in their stable. My question is, if you own many nice cars, doesn't it feel more like a weekly chore/routine to take them out every week, wash them, fill up gas, etc etc? Like you're weekly "obligated" to take them out before battery dies, spent so much money so you should drive them, etc. Just until 2 months ago, I owned 3 exotic cars and before when I had 2 exotics in my stable, I was always yearning for another one. But once I acquired my 3rd car, it felt like it was more work than enjoyment. Don't get me wrong, it was always nice to come home and open up the garage doors and see all your beauties sleeping. But after 2 months of routinely taking turns taking 3 cars out for drive, gas, and carwash, I eventually got so tired of it and I ended up getting rid of my 3rd car. Moreover, as time went by, I got to favor one car over another. Consequently, the car that I "favored" the least, was being neglected. But wihtout a doubt, the least favored car was always been my dream car but compared to my other 2 cars, it just felt boring. But this is all relative. But now that my 3rd car is gone, and seeing my garage less full, thought of acquiring a 3rd keeps cripping into my head. What should i do? So members here with multiple exotics in their stable (I've seen members here with 5-6 exotics), have you ever felt or feel this way? thanks

    yes, yes, and yes.
i feel u only need 2 nice cars.
one that can be driven very fast and very easily, like a 430/scud/458, and one that requires some skill GT2/CGT/GTO....
it will be a perfect combo.

If u get more than 2, u be complaining all the time.
i joke that i wash cars for a living because of my stupid cars. (and i only take them to my detailer to do it, imagine when i like to do them all myself??!!!)
but im sick, and u dont have to be.

    Doesn't bother me at all.
Battery tenders take care of the major battery issues.
Maintenance (oil changes, etc.) can be a pain in the rear end at times but it's a small price to pay.

I love being able to enjoy what each car brings...one wife...several exotic cars...works for me.

I agree with the two exotic idea. I personally don't have the space for more than 2. If I did it might be different. 2 is more than enough for most and can be quite bothersome.

i feel this issue all the time ...

the only question is this : how many cars to own, before you hire a part-time mechanic?

a few hours per week from a qualified mechanic is easily justified when you reach "x" cars at a market value of "y" ... what are "x" and "y"?

(by the way, "x" keeps dropping as i get older LOL)

How much time do you spend on each car each week? You're not washing them all on the same day, are you?

I have 3 toy cars...collectible, exotic etc. Lately the 356 Cab has been getting all the love. The Lambo and the Lotus just sit there with their covers and battery chargers on.

    Do I care, nope.

Fact I own these things and they don't own me. When you start considering the depreciation, insurances, upkeep etc etc they charm of a mini-collection goes poof fast.

f430, 458, and 911 turbo pdk cab (i don't know if you'll consider 911 turbo as an exotic).
Now i just have f430 and 458 but contemplating on acquiring lp560. But I'm intimidated to run into that mundane "have to do" every week chores.....

I usually use the mini duster to dust down the car after each ride. The thing is here in Hawaii, we get sporadic sprinkles of rain even during sunny day. I hate it when I go for a drive thinking it's all sunny and few minutes later rain sprinkles and sun comes out again immediately and it creates water spots everywhere. So when i get home I can't help but to wash it. I don't know, maybe i'm just too anal. The thing is I wasn't this anal with my other cars. Ever since I bought exotic cars, I became like this. I hate it so much. Maybe I just need to relax and stop being so anal about keeping it in top notch condition. Before I never had to worry about going for a drive and having to worry about, oh "maybe i'm putting too much miles on it today". It's really annoying but i can't help it.....

I'm not a lambo fan but it would seem to make sense that if you like them...getting rid of the 430 is logical considering the fact that you have a 458. Then you have 2 different exotics to wash...and who cares if the lambo gets dirty?!

If you ever need someone to drive and then wash your "neglected" car (is it the F430?) I'll be glad to step in! :D :D :D

I don't own 3 very exotic cars, but I can relate. I have my Fcar, viper, gtr and a nice OEM supra TT hardtop. The Supra and GTR haven't been driven in 1-2yrs.. Just started and let idle small drive around the block and back to the warehouse. The Viper and Ferrari get washed and driven weekly and it does get to be a pain in the ass. I find myself enjoying the Fcar and forgetting I even own the other 3 toys lately. I have been contemplating selling the 3 others and getting a Gallardo, 430, or strad.

You can never be too anal when it comes to maintaining your car's appearance.

I cannot relate. I like washing car. I find it relaxing. Plus, nobody bothers me when I'm cleaning the cars. ;)

I don't know why you're so worried about putting on miles. As someone else so eloquently put it, "Are you saving the car for the next guy?" The more miles on the car the better - and so what if you drive it into the ground. Just buy a new one! ...or buy a used one from someone that has been saving their car for the next guy. Ha ha.

You only live once and you obviously have the money, so what's holding you back? It's not like you're getting any younger. If you died tomorrow, what are they going to say?

"He was such a nice guy and all his cars had low miles."

I love cars. It gives me something to do and avoid playing golf :)

I have 14 cars. Exotics, a few supercars, sport and several classics. I lean towards modern cars that drive well and are powerful. This gives me something to do.

I never wash the cars. I tell people with a smile that the dust on the 458 is OEM dirt. tight from Italy. If I clean it the car value goes down.

You can check the cars and types on the profile. I try to buy cars that have a different driving niche and are unique.

I have five cars, including two Dinos and a Porsche. My other two ar M-B retractables. I don't get to drive any of them as much as I'd like, especially because of the weather around here (case in point--early 30s with frost this morning). My view is, I drive a particular car when I feel like doing so. I'm not compelled to do it. When I'm in the right frame of mind to drive a particular car, it is a very satisfying experience. You don't have to drive every one of your cars every day. What you don't "use up" today, you can consume tomorrow or next week. The main thing is to enjoy each drive in each car. It also cuts down on psychologist visits! Fred

I have a clean dehumidified garage and it is very easy to leave cars in storage for a while with no issues. I rotate cars and use them as suits me. I don't feel the least bit concerned about leaving cars in storage for months. If I don't have any interest in taking a car out of storage to use it that means it's days are numbered before it goes for sale. Good help is crucial for enjoyable ownership unless you are prepared to devote a lot of time. For me time is for people not for things
