His duty as a father is finally done. What a life, to have to live......Rest In Peace, neighbor. "Ertman/Pena murders", for those with Google. Three of those &*^%^&( are still using air. A shame.
Wow. Before my time in Texas. No one should have to experience that. RIP indeed. Times like this, you pray fervently that there really is an afterlife & that Mr. Ertman is reunited with his daughter on the other side.
Thanks. The neighborhood HAS changed some, although the apartments they were visiting are all still there, along TC Jester Blvd. at Sherwood. Waltrip High School demographics are about the same... But you are right, modern new residents to the neighborhood jog happily up and down the bayou, within yards of the scene.... I debate mentioning it, when I see some lovely girl leave my apartment at sundown, dressed to go for her evening jog, alone. No one uses the Railroad Track bridge for a short cut. What really set Randy off, at the time, was the killer's laughter, as they went into court. Then of course the famous involvement of the US Supreme Court, before they snuffed the Mexican national......the ones left alive were not old enough to face Trial as adults, 16 or 17 when they killed the girls.
He had a big impact, in how Texas handles death penalty cases, as far as the victim's family goes... A BIG change.. Sorry it's sideways.... I mainly recall the pictures of HPD holding him back, at the crime scene, when the bodies were recovered...a father doesn't forget an image like that. The trial transcripts turn your stomach. R.I.P., Randy....
