Hate to start a new thread, but here goes: Did Ferrari ever produce a Boxer from the factory in Oro Chiaro either with black bottom boxer trim or in total over the entire car? If so, can anyone supply photos? I've seen green boxers (bb's not bbi's), but never in light gold. Thanks, Steve
i can imagine them looking really great especially with boxer trim & the groovy cloth seats... but then i like marrone!
Thank you Marcel. (If anyone has any photos or knows the whereabouts of these 3 BBs, please share with us)
Too bad all that clear gold has been painted over! Prior to the Boxer the last Daytona Spider was also painted Oro Chiaro. CH
Ok, so I'm not the only one that likes the rare colors......I honestly think that oro chiaro looks sensational. I am very disappointed to hear that all of them have been painted over. Don't get me wrong, I like red, but isn't it refreshing to see a Ferrari in a rare color? I believe the Daytona was Greg Garrison's if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for the information.
I agree completely with you, Newman. If price was not a concern I would have Ferrari Classiche repaint the car green. Green (verde) is amazing too. Mario Bernardi had one a few years ago that I would have bought, but it was sold just before I discovered the car. My funds were available at that time too, before the market took a dump... That beautiful deep purple, I think viola it is called, would be nice too. Did that come on a 512 or 365???
Yes 17073 was the Garrison Daytona Spider. Lots of people wanted that car. When it was shopped around for less than 800k there were no takers as it was thought to be overpriced at the time. It later sold at auction for 2.035mil not sure if that included auction fees. Before the sale I said it would sell for 2.1mil. Mr Roush had a list of Daytona models by color with two Oro Chiaro coupes noted. There has been in the past a 308 and a Dino 246 on here painted the clear gold to. The deep purple color was on a very late 1974 Daytona coupe that I seem to recall was for sale in Holland. Don't know if the purple was chosen for any 365 BB... CH
My avatar was photoshopped in that crazy purple (a la Murph) but if some heavily insured person backed into my black Boxer today, the next time in public it'd be Blu Sera. Halfway on topic here, I had a 'Oro Longchamps' (gold) Merak SS - a mint, original car throughout -years ago. Loved that color. Quite unusual, understated.
I have several photos of an oro chiaro daytona w/blk interior that was for sale in Burlingame, CA. It was owned by a dentist that Larry Cammisa and Brandon Lawrence knew. The car sold many years ago, but I dont know who the owner is. I will try to scan these next week and post in the Daytona section. Back on track - - - Was there a deep purple, viola, on a boxer originally from the factory??
Yes there was, Mine was Viola dino(deep purple metallic) vin 21939. I do not have a picture off the car in its orignal color. I am still looking for pictures off the car. I have the history from 1981(north carolina) to 2009 (Netherlands). Still missing the first 5 years and where it was first sold in 1977(Auto-Becker in Germany?????). I also do not know when it was painted red. I think the car was totaly viola becaus I find the purple paint everywhere. Maarten. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Maarten: I would love to have seen pics of your car in that color. What is the color of the interior of your car today, and is it original?
the color off the interior is crema(with black daytona stripes) with red carpets. the crema parts are original the carpets I do not know.
