Got a question for you F40 owners. What was the orginal selling price for these cars. I don't mean the inflated prices some had to pay, I am refering to sticker price and all fees and taxes. What were they running? I have heard about once all was said and done about $450,000....

Original List Price $399,150, but I don't know how accurate that is.

I've always thought it was around 400k. Since you're asking the question does anyone have the list price of the F50 as well? The Enzo was around 750k correct?

    Dear Comrades,

In England the illustrious F-40, when new in 1987, sold for £193000.

    With kind regards,

Cool to see that, thanks for posting.

So I guess that with everything is makes sense to say about $450,000.

i walked into Walnut Creek Ferrari in around 90 I think they had 2 F-40's in the show room, with no window stickers. I asked how much, $550,000, I replyed a mil for both? nope 1.1 for both, i dont remember the year-but I do remember the price 100%. I couldnt afford a 308 back then. I hated that fact so I changed it.

That's expensive.. but sure is worth it. Is $450,000 back then worth like $1,000,000 now?

Not quite, that was in '92. Not to long ago.

But thanks for clearing things up guys, so now I know the number. About $450,000.

While they had a MSRP of about $400k+, many of the early cars were sold new at a market value of about $1M.

What tires we available on these cars?

First example shows Pirelli's with a slightly larger front than the Goodyear equipped vehicle.

Exactly. I was in high school around that time, but even back then I followed the market pretty close. Those were the times of very high Ferrari values. MIllion+ $$ F40s and 288 GTOs, and $300k+ Testarossas and Boxers. And the older classic Ferraris in the multimillions.

probably the single best advice i've read in the four years i've been observing f-chat.

I can remember going to the Mercedes dealer with a friend and watching him write a check for a 1992 600 SEL for $145,000 (tax and ins. included). He just bought a 2007 S600 new last month for around $140,000 out the door (15 years later!!). So much for inflation!
