Following on from the After the F-laptop, here comes the F-camera!!! thread, I just wanted to ask...

Has anybody bought the Oregon Scientific Maranello Projection Clock, or any of their other Ferrari clocks?

The alarm sound is supposed to be that of Ferrari, but I bought mine, and the next morning, I was awakened by what sounded like a Subaru Impreza, complete with the "whoosh" of the turbo blow-off valve! Maybe its an F40 or the 288GTO?! Sounds too low pitched though. Sure as hell doesn't sound like the sound sample on the website!

I'll be going back to the shop when I have some time to see if they're all like that, but in the meantime, any similar experiences?

Belated Happy 21st Birthday! Oh, the joy of youth...

Too much of a low rumble to be an F40 don't you think? Anyone?

I had purchased one back for Christmas. The sound did not even come close to the sound on their websites. I sent emails to the company and they told me that the sound bite on their website was given to them from Ferrari. However, when played through their tiny speakers (and slow processor) it comes out bad. I returned it and got my money back.

I'm sad because I love the F1 sound and was looking for this exact clock!

Anyway, hopefully they will fix it and come out with one that actually sounds right.

OK. Just paid a visit to the shop, and the salesgirl insists that ALL of them have the sound of a Ferrari as their alarm sound, BUT...

The Luxury line (round face style) has a "low-pitched Ferrari sound", and the Aerodynamic line (square face style) has a "high-pitched Ferrari sound"!

I'm taking the Maranello back and changing it for an Imola and a Silverstone, so I have one of both "Ferrari" engine sounds! :D

    Banduga,

The Imola clock was the one I got and it does not sound anything like the soundbite on the website! You will be dissapointed.

Yeah, the Imola is one of the round faced "Luxury" line models, so it will have that low rumbling engine noise. However, I won't be using it that much, mainly for travel.

The Silverstone is one of the square faced "Aerodynamic" line, and therefore DOES have the Ferrari sound.

So, the key is to stay away from the "Luxury" line, and go for the "Aerodynamic" line.
