Can't wait 'til the next run up to AVP. Had a great time back in October. Hopefully will be a little warmer in '09... it was a really cold start to that day at S-bucks, but those back roads really got the blood flowing ;)

Planning for the '09 event is already in full swing.

It is our desire to move the date forward for '09 (warmer temps and peak foliage) and we're making every effort to select the date as soon as possible so that everyone can "save the date." Will probably be held in the month of the 250 GTO. Huh, what's that? That month for those folks who have not yet obtained their copy of the Official Calendar of the Rocky Hill CT Chapter of FChat Gatherers isssss - September. First weekend is Lime Rock. Second weekend is Fairfield Concours. In respect to the third and fourth weekend I'll have to check the FCA events calendar in order to avoid a scheduling conflict.

We have plenty of great scenic backroads to explore in Connecticut's northeast corner. I know which road you folks REALLY enjoyed this year and we'll work it into the route once again.

May do an exhibition polo game for your amusement (working on the logistics), OR golf cart polo in which you may participate OR walk/trot arena polo game in which attendees may also participate. Rather than having to make the decision we may do all three.

Looking for entrants for the walk/trot polo. We can supply everything except the helmet. Bicycle or riding helmets work just fine. Sign up early!!!

Shall provide updates as event details are firmed up.

Well the Ferrari is officially tucked in the garage until spring thaw as of today (drove her quite a bit yesterday). Time to shift gears to the snow racer (or is that ricer?) Either way it's 400+ AWD HP and a BLAST in the snow! A few pics from tonight, driving more miles sideways than straight :D

no. just a carrera 2. i had a 996TT. i sold that to buy the murc, and bought this c2 for a DD. it does fine in the snow with snow tires and the traction control.

the turbo was obviously better in the snow, but this thing can hold its own.

hahahahah, the STi will go through anything you want. I have blasted right through my driveway where the town has plowed me in and I didn't have time to clear it before work. I have an 05' STi with snow tires on it I am pretty sure it's unstoppable. I have only had to actually lock the Diff 2 times in the 5yrs of owning it.

My friends bet my buddy that he wouldn't be able to drive his car STi around his house in the 12in. of snow in Bethel, so naturally he had to prove them wrong (they all have SUv's for the winter. We took his STi into his backyard in and did some donuts, in and out no issues at all. Still had the v-limited front lip on it and everything.

    Hey Jay,

It appears that you're having some great fun in the winter wonderland.
Is your Su-bee Cornes' blue or Tour de Japan blue or a custom blue paint???

I'm not only a member of the Subaru Owners Club of Massachusetts (SOCOM "Sock-em") but I'm the president and only member.
I was always satisfied with just getting from here to there with the winter ride but now that seems to be entirely inadequate.

I figure the bone stock Outback's (one of only 800 produced that day) gonna need:
Power increase - new chip, turbo, intercooler
Weight reduction - Carbon roof rack to start with, super exotic alloy compound (something that NASA would use on the space shuttle) wheels
Do you know of any good sources for the above?

Just watch the deep snow, the one weakness of lowered Subies is ground clearance. Practice installing the tow hook before going out to play ;)

I always lock the diff 50-50 when playing in snow.

I hear ya Ed, and as always I'm more than happy to help. Start with an adjustable powerband:

For weight savings I'd recommend the cross drilled brake lines too:
