    Update on the Puma Opening

Corperate still hasn't contacted me. Regional is onboard and the Casino loves the Idea. Not sure what the issue is but I'm actually feeling more confident knowing who is supporting the idea. Regional is checking with corperate to see what the hold up is.

    Fingers remain crossed

Its not a rock, its the skeletal remains of people that entered the facility in 1969 and were told to wait in line.

Funny, when I was at DMV to convert to EA, I didn't notice too many rock people. Unfortunately the DMV person who waited on me felt the need to say Ferrari very loud, repeatedly. That caused the rock people to come out with a vengence. Makes me think of the thread about driving your Ferrari in this economic environment.

Insurance dialed back? not here, had the 355 out all day - kiddo to swim class, to gym for blood drive, picked up 3 pizzas for the bday party...lots of power with this cold weather! (comes in handy since I was running late to all 3 stops :D )

If we're getting snow tomorrow for sure I'll be out in the STi, just need to put the snows on today. I'll stop by Starbucks with my first calendar around 9-ish.

Interesting discussions this morning with Jes, Jay, and Lane. Critical topics like euthanasia of a shop mouse by size 12 timberland, Certified letters "returned to sender", Freshman high school goalies on the Varsity team.We all arrived in our Semi Exotics....well... they are all imports anyway.

I saw the fruits of Jays labors in the Calendar, Absolutely sweet. I'm paid and waiting for the order to be placed.

My 84 308 is registered as an Early American car but the Town of Essex sent me a tax bill for the regular appraised amount..think they said it was worth 30K. I had to bring my registration to them in order to prove that it was registered as Early American. They readjusted my tax bill to 18 dollars. I took the saved money and put an X-Ost on the car. Now if I could only find the keys to start it.

Drove my 308 with the new X-Ost system today...Wayne from F-40 installed the system, great job, and the sound was very pleasing. On Rt. 9 at 70 mph the exhaust note was a bit louder and deeper than the Ansa. When taking it through the gears it was a totally different car...extreme engine note and sounded like a completely different car. But sadly, it's time to put it away for the winter.

Yeah, it's going to be a long winter waiting to get it out again. I put mine away a week ago and I'm already having withdrawal symptoms. I hope you are able to join us in the spring when we dust them off and resume gathering at Starbucks in Rocky Hill each Sunday morning. You can caravan up with Lane and I so we can hear that exhaust too. We can probably include making a day of it at the F-40 open house next spring too.

Get those cars back out guys, roads are just fine. AND...calendars are in! I'm planning on being at Starbucks this Sunday morn to hand them out. If some of you guys think you'll see other CT gathering guys later you can take their calendar too. If you can't make it to pick the calendar up don't sweat it, you've got a few weeks 'till 2009.

I'll be there this morning between 8:30 and 9:00, but can't stay too long. I'll bring my winter driver, just for you, Jay. :D

Lane, give me a call on the cell before 8 if you want to roll up there together. I'll be at the bank until then.

    Hi Jay,

I'm planning to make the drive south this morning. I need to attend to barn duties before hitting the road so will probably arrive around 10:00 - 10:30. Will drive the verde silverstone metallic machine if the roads are cleared up from Friday morning's ice storm. Lot's of sand, salt and debris on the tarmac. However, at least the electric service has been restored. If road conditions are poor will arrive by verde suzuka non-metallic vehicle.

Pretty good turnout today. The calendars that Jay put together were as cool as advertized. Thanks again Jay for all of your time and effort to put them together. Here are some pictures from today's gathering including some alternative rides as well as those driven by our diehards that brought their babies out one more time. It was great to see everyone again. Ed, sorry I missed you if you made it after I left.

    Hi Craig,

Sorry that I missed you. I see that you brought your truck out. Do you own any vehicles that take more than 4.5 seconds to go naught to 60 mph???

I was up to my ankles in the horse fertilizer removal project this morning. It's actually a great way to start the day - lot's of physical activity and it keeps you humble. Then made my way down to Rocky Hill via the slippery back roads of scenic south central Massachusetts. Plenty of frozen water over the road to help keep this Fcar driver focused on the work before him. I'm pleased to report that a couple of questionable driving decisions that I made did not end in disaster. Arrived at S'Bucks around 10:45 no worse for the wear except for a bunch of road salt that I brought with me from MA.

Had a cup of S'Bucks hot chocolate and wonderful conversation covering a very, very wide range of topics. Collected my calendars from UConn. Jay did a GREAT job putting it together. I can't stop picking it up to scan through. Turned the Fcar for home and I made certain that I picked up all the road salt that I missed on the drive down. Now gotta go wash the car. But there are worse tasks to be performed in life.

    Hope to see you soon.

    Happy Holidays to All !!!!

Sorry I couldn't stick around until you got there. I had to use the truck to pick up some stuff my wife bought the other day so my play time was cut short. :(

As always great to hang out with a bunch of car nuts on a Sunday morning. Cheers to Ed for braving the ice, salt, and sand, driving his 355 an hour down to meet us. Joe's nero 355 spider was spotless as always, just showing off the normal brake dust as was mine. Glad you guys like the calendars, I can't wait for 2009! Hopefully we'll have a good turnout at some events this year (Concorso, Fairfield Concours, Lime Rock events, etc.) since they're on the calendar now :D

For those who couldn't make it I have calendars for ya; shoot me a PM and maybe can meet up during the week or next wknd.

May I presume that it didn't take very long to get from point A to point B after loading the "stuff" in the bed of the truck.
Gotta make sure the load is properly secured before leaving the traffic light in full launch mode or you'll be retrieving the purchased goods from the middle of the road.

What's the theoretical top velocity with a standard size chest of drawers on board ???

    - Ed -

Please don't let my wife see your truck. She'll be wanting to trade in her V10 powered F350 dually for something that will really get the horse trailer from here to there quickly. Poor horses will have to find something to hold on to though.

:D Yeah, it was a quick trip and rather large bungie cords were used to strap it down. It has been a real workhorse this year. Seems like I have a 2nd home at Home Depot (I have been finishing off my basement) with almost daily trips there (as Lane can attest). Don't know what I would have done without it. I actually hauled a trailer full of stuff the movers wouldn't handle (for my garage) when we moved here last year from MI and it was like there was nothing back there. Gobs of torque. Ford made a mistake when they stopped making them, IMO. When they went to the new F150 body style they no longer had a shorty cab ("lightweight") model. Mine is one of the last made in 2004, the last year they were available. It looks a little different with the winter wheels and snow tires on it now. Since no one makes 295x18 (stock size) snow tires, Lightning owners have to use 16" wheels with snow tires that approximate the same circumference as the stock setup. Even though it isn't a 4-wheeler, it does pretty well in snow as long as you use a light foot.:)

Glad you like it my little mule, Ed. I'll give you a ride in it if you'd like next time we get together in Rocky Hill.

When Sandy and I were building the house and barn our Friday date nights turned into "let's make a run to Home Depot" nights. I felt like Norm on Cheers - I'd walk in and all the Home Depot associates greeted me with a chorus of "ED". Glad those days are behind us. But I think the Depot saw a sharp decline in sales revenue after we completed our project.

Would it help the weight distribution to just leave the building supplies in the bed for the winter??? Or would the performance gain be offset by the loss of domestic harmony???

Would love it go for a ride in any or all of your vehicles. I'll take you up on your very generous offer. The line starts with me!!!!

PS Sandy and I are working on the details for the 2009 edition of the Autumn View Farm Gathering. We're trying to arrange to provide an opportunity to the "CT Gatherers" the chance to try out some of our polo ponies. However, we won't be using the mare that I very affectionately call "slippery". Unless, maybe, DrJess would like to ride her ????

I was always fondest of the horses who had a little extra "personality" to them...however, after all the falls and breaks and injuries that I know of to my head, I should probably pass on that one;)

I think it would be great if some of us got out there on the ponies...I'm in!
