More of a nuisance / quirk...

    I’ll get it figured out.

A year ago it happened to me: interstate driving at speed for a half hour then downhill exit ramp to stop light. Died as I let off the throttle. Restarted no problem and hasn't happened since.

I have a manual Vantage and have had it happen a few times. It is a known issue with the Vantage (check 6speed forums). I have overcome the issue now that I have some time behind the wheel, I only depress the clutch as I hit the idle speed, when I do this, no issue. If I depress the clutch after "stop and go" situations it tends to "die" on me if its significantly above idle speed. It happens when lifting off throttle in certain situations. I believe fabspeed has a tune to fix the throttle mapping. They have an incredible product line for Astons and a very skilled Aston tech on staff.

    A bit off topic.

A shout out to Peninsula European Motors in San Mateo. They handled my 10 yr service for my 2009 Aston Vantage. Did a great job including finally curing a dashboard rattle that I’d had since buying it and the dealer had not solved.

Car is nearly flawless now and a great drive. Once I wear down the current clutch I’m going for a third party clutch that they recommend and can install that nearly turns it into a current generation Vantage from a shift standpoint!

And it was done in 24 hours! Sweet!

Thank you for this terrific thread, Robb. I expect to be in the market soon. How is the interior room in the V8? Visually, it seems a bit cramped to me compared to the DB9. I'm 6'3", fwiw. Cheers!

At your height you should probably be in a db9 to get more room. I am 6-1 and still have room above me.

But try both on. I felt like the db9 was a little too big of a car for what I wanted. It is taller, longer, and has more room and window height. The vantage is a sports car with gt characteristics. Opposite on the db9.

Either model is a great car.

I'm 6'5" (36" inseam) and went with a DB9 over the Vantage. I was OK in the Vantage Coupe but did not fit in the convertible version (Volante). The DB9 also gave me more luggage space by allowing duffles in the vestigial rear seats. My only real complaint is that I wish the DB9 had the Vantage's full rear hatchback. Cleaning the lower inside of the rear window is next to impossible.

Cleaning the inside front windshield near the dash in the Vantage is also nearly impossible...

Robb, way back in law school (1952-55) I as already a car nut, followed sports car racing in the U S and Europe, subscribed to The Autocar magazine that came - air mail far too expensive - three or four at a time in the cargo holds of RMS Queen Mary and RMS Queen Elizabeth (RMS = Royal Mail Ship). I liked Ferraris but I LOVED Astons. Car I lusted for was not the latest Ferrari but an Aston-Martin DB2-4. A few years ago I came close to acquiring a blue sapphire V 8 Vantage to accompany the 575M, 412, my/your F355, Maserati Spyder and Cadillac CTS - all in blue of course. But I'm 88 and was then 80-something. Too many cars, requiring pruning. Durn.

Might mention that years after my Aston yearn I met Peter Sprague whom I represented for a decade; learned that with a partner he had owned Aston Martin in the 1970s.

Perfectly lovely car you have there to go with my old F355. Good luck.

Seth... I'm a blue car guy too. Five years ago this was my garage full of convertibles...

The SL was T-boned the Sebring we gave away as a wedding present. Now I have a Slate Blue DB9 and am getting a new Blue Ford Flex as our Adventure/Tow vehicle. My previous Ferrari was a Blue Sera Mondial t Cab.

Ditto on blue. The 550, DB7 and Cobra are all blue. And a daily driver wagon (that has symmetric all wheel drive)... ;-)

Out with my buddy Rick on a great drive through the canyons in AZ.

The Vantage has got to be the greatest bang for the buck car out there... what an amazing drive. It really is great to see the Astons from outside the cars while you are driving yours... but since they are fairly rare, it’s not a normal thing to get to “fly in formation.”

Ricks car is a 2007 stick with stage 3 exhaust muffler.

Mine is a 2009 Sport shift with sport pack suspension and fabspeed x pipe and 200 cell cats...

Both seem equally loud and angry. Suspension seems tighter as one would expect on my car.

Transmissions both seem fun in different ways.

Make no bones about it. The vantage is first and foremost a sports car....

Will have to join the owners club and find more Aston’s to drive with.

Went to the Scottsdale dealer with my son to check out a few cars.

We’re not a fan of the new vantage. I didn’t like the nose or lights... my son did not like the drop off of the rear shoulders on the car...

Db11 is growing on me but my son doesn’t like the lines any of the newer cars.

We do both like the Vanquish and our older vantage.
