I've liked the Omega "Seamonsters" for a while, and I could use a smaller (than Panerai) watch for business trips. I may have a chance to buy one of the last of the limited (comparatively speaking) edition Planet Ocean Liquid Metal 42mm series. Omega say they made 1,948, and they're basically sold out.

Anyone here bought one or compared it to the regular Planet Ocean (which is $1200 less)?

I'm under no delusions this is a rare collectible timepiece, but thought I'd consult with the gurus here as to whether anyone felt it was worth the extra.

    Great watch.

You won't go wrong with a Seamaster.

That watch on a strap whould be a fantastic daily wear for the office.

The PO is very cool and the liquid metal is an interesting novelty. I believe the LM is only the bezel, so its pretty pricey, but worn daily if you like it, go for it.

I love Omega. They make a great product, unfortunately, their prices have been moving up a lot lately.

    Best,

I'd have to see more data regarding the additional durability of the LM before making a hard recomendation, but off the cuff...I can't say that it'd be worth it.

As it's not a super rare watch, I tend to doubt that you'd get any other benefit from the LM than the "prestige" of what the watch actually is. Would the extra cost enable you to keep the watch in "like new" condition moreso than simply having a regular Seamaster properly serviced? Not knowing much about LM, I can't say, but that would be my big question.

I'd say go with one of the other Seamasters, myself, but if you love it then go grab it. :)

A Blanpain Fifty Fathoms rip off.
Used FF's sometimes turn up for 6K or so.
If the Omega is aprox the same get the BP.

PS; That is a BEAUTIFUL watch. I have a couple of Omegas and they are an awesome value IMO.
The BP FF original is my favorite.

PPS; if they sold out on this "Limited edition" then you can be sure they will modify it slightly and come out with another Limited Edition.
Lamborghini has been pulling this for years.
    Learned from the watchmakers.

Just buy a standard PO. Great watch, I wear mine on a near-daily basis.

How much is it? If you are up to 6000+ then it would be silly not to get a Rolex sub or gmt IMHO... Better retention of value...
