He does but he needs to continue to develop and be a winner in Jr series. Antonelli was the total new fave last month. He's not in the press any longer. Russell was the next best thing sub'd for Bottas. Who's Russell lol??? :)

Checkout Bearmans headrest before and after the race. His head muscles couldn't handle the g-forces so he rested his head on the cushion when cornering.

I don't want to take anything away from Bearman, he did an excellent job on his F1 debut. It also shows that Ferrari has a pretty damn good car--2nd best?

Maybe or maynot be neck muscles but his style. I'm a racer using full containment seat. Touring car full containment seats were a concept taken from F1 containment concepts for best function of HANS device outside of formula car cockpits. So our seats have headwinds to contain the helmet.

Your butt o meter works best When you can feel the car so when you have light grip on steering wheel you don't interfere with the feedback the wheel gives you. Same with using the headrest no fighting gs to feel the moment changes. That's why in amateur trackday driving they say graduate to a race seat and harness drop lap time by seconds because you are not trying to hold yourself in the seat fighting agains the feedback the car is giving you. Makes sense?

    Yes, makes sense.

However, Ollie had a thicker headrest during FP3 because the Scuderia compensated for this due to Ollie's 1st time in an F1 car. Then during FP3, Ollie opted on team radio to change to a thinner headrest to which the Scuderia complied because Ollie had a hard time "feeling" the car with a thicker headrest because his head was somewhat immobile.
Does that coincide with your analogy?

Yes but some drivers are loose and feel as I described. But some grip parts of car. There is no one way just like all have different driving style. What I describe is just one way. Some relax in seat deathgrip wheel. Some are dead pedal users planting hard in seat yet light hands. There is no one way.

There is no doubt that Bearman's debut was sensational by any metric. That said his race is merely the first step (which he took extremely well) towards a successful F1 career. Let's not forget everyone going nuts about Nyck DeVries after his one off at Monza and any list of 'next Senna' drivers over the years that achieved nothing. The kid is off to an incredible start but only time will show how good he is. I am cautiously optimistic for him.

Haas: Bearman deserves F1 chance, but 2025 seat not a given
Haas team boss Ayao Komatsu says Oliver Bearman's outstanding Formula 1 debut for Ferrari shows he deserves a full-time chance, but played down suggestions he will move to Haas.

F1 fans love to jump on the hype train after 1 race.

Bearman did a fantastic job and it's great for his career. Most of the praises come with he did great considering... and the list of challenges begins. Its all true, but can he perform better during a normal weekend. Would he be able to closer the gap to Leclerc by 0.500 seconds? Would he be able to find 30 seconds in a race? Those are big margins and any driver will tell you the last few tenths are the hardest to find. He got 7th in the 2nd best car. Great performance for a short notice debut no doubt, but he didn't outperform the car, he outperformed everyone's expectations.

For me, branding him immediate F1 material is a bit premature. He certainly isn't a threat to Carlos' seat for this season. The most impressive part to me was he was fearless in pushing the car to find the limits. Around Jeddah at those speeds and the walls so close, that's pretty amazing. I suspect he will get his shot in F1. Give him a season in a Sauber or Haas and we'll see how he does.

And he almost won that race. Twice. To this day I believe that Lewis was in his covid quarantine on the phone to Toto saying “You better not let him win in my car.” Hence the tire mix up that had never happened with that team before, dropping him out of the lead. And then after changing tires and charging back to the front, the puncture that ended his race.

Simply wouldn’t do to have this young kid show that maybe it was the car, not Lewis after all.

I hope his career will end up being better than Robert Schwartzman's, ex-F2 and another Ferrari Drivers Academy protegé who was listed a reserve for the Scuderia, at one point. He seems to have been dropped now.
The step from F2 to F1 is far from obvious these days.

I really want CS to be back in the car for the next race, but I would think it would be better in the long run for Ollie to shoe it one more weekend.

This thread simply illustrates that what F1 needs is more testing--if ONLY to allow reserve drivers to get enough hours in the cars to be viable drivers when they are called upon as a substitute.

Imaging if Oly had 10-hours of SF24 driving time at Fiorano how much better his performance would have been.

But with the cost cap, this reserve driver training would have to be entirely off books.
