    Anyone own an old world style home, or have their interior designed in such a way? I love these type of houses and am looking for design ideas for the interior of our new house.

    I have always loved the tudor style homes. There was always a warm welcome feeling around these homes.

    My home was built by norwegian stone masons in the late 20's situated in the foothills outside of denver colorado. I have renovated the house and went to great lengths to keep the original charm with exposing the stonework and keeping the original Knotty pine throughout. Not sure if the home qualifies as a true old world home, but it is certainly an old world mountain home done colorado style..........

    djui5 Nice house!! I'm looking more for interior designs, stuff like this, more Mediterranean old world than French:

    If you are into the exposed timber beam look, may I suggest searching ebay for antique or hand hewn barns. I have been through a few houses in which the architect has designed rooms using reclaimed post and beam measurements, and scheduled to use the reclaimed hardware as well. In the end you end up with very unique old look and feel.

    Nice place man. Quite a step up from that place in Mt. Prospect. That old split level you used to have. What was it - 2 bedrooms, one bath. Such a small one car garage you could hardly get out of the car once in the garage! Plus only room in the driveway for one car. I'm impressed. I remember not so many years ago you drove that old Impala and had your Fiero/Ferrari car. Are all those cars yours? Plus all the Ferrari's you own. You da man!

    How about some pictures of the inside? How many acres?

    I think it's amazing! Wish I could afford it :D I think that's one of the best looking houses I've ever seen from the outside. My wife would heel over if we could build something like that.

    I'm learning about building but tell me, how does the stonework come into play? Is it all new modern stone, specially shaped for this house or is it off the shelf material?

    I ultimately want an old looking stone house with lots of presence however in the UK I've been told its very expensive to use such stone. This house is fantastic.
