I recently bought the DVD's of the speed racer cartoons from my youth so that my kid could enjoy them. Love the mammoth car episode.

It seems like the engine sounds used in the cartoon resemble the 308/328.

Do you guys agree? Wonder what they recorded or modeled it after? Speed had to have an f-car in his secret garage...

Was the 308 ('70's) in production when the original Speed Racer aired ('60's??)???

Speed Racer was first on US television in 1967 and 1968.

Maybe Ferrari modeled the 308 exhaust note after the Mach 5's?

That Mammoth car episode was cool. I just love the names they come up with for the characters. Cruncher Block. Ha ha! Snake Oiler. Mr. High Octane. Guts Wheeler. Hap Hazzard.
