This is a nice story... I've had this poster for about 25 years... It was the only poster I ever had hanging on my bedroom wall as a kid. I remember that we went to a local shop that my mom usually went to in order to frame pictures and stuff like that, and they had this picture hanging as a demo over there. Of course, I immediately recognized it as "Magnum's Ferrari", and I just HAD to have it! I recall my mom's total disbelief when asked her to buy it... it was the first time EVER I asked for anything other than a toy... and maybe that's why she agreed to buy it! Anyways, I checked it closely the other day, and it was begining to get a little faded and, since I was unable to find the same picture anywhere else, I took it to a copy shop to get it scanned. I realize the picture is not a big deal per se... actually, by these days standards, it's actually a rather crappy picture of a 308 in front of a (japanese?) farm... and of course, there are many other pictures online that would look terribly better on a printed poster, but this one is just very special for me! After all, it was, for many, many years, the only big picture I had of a 308... I remember looking at it for hours... comparing my Matchbox and Corgi 308's to it... it made me really happy, and played a large role as I was growing up. It's like having a picture of your goal... something that reminded me of what I wanted... every time I looked at it, I would say to myself "some day, I'll have one just like this one". I guess that... more than just a picture, it was like a compass... always pointing to MY north. Anyways, just wanted to share this with you... anyone have a similar story with an old poster? Please, do share! BTW, the large scan is available to anyone who wants it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I bought one in 7th grade 308 GTSi. Bought it at Spencer's at the mall. Hung it up in my bedroom in 1981. Still have it.
I had this one on my bedroom wall in early to mid 80s. Original is long gone but found another on eBay, which now hangs in the garage. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It had the performance numbers written very small on the bottom center. Looked like the R&T's figures, 7.9 0-60, 147 top speed...
Mine says 1983 in lower left corner but who cares...great poster! I think GrayTA still has his original one as well. Correct. There are three for sale currently on ebay if anyone is interested: RARE Vintage 1983 Ferrari 308 Gtsi Poster Nmnt | eBay Vintage 1983 Ferrari 308 Gtsi Original Hot Rod Poster Man Cave Car Garage 7056 | eBay Vintage 1983 Ferrari 308 Gtsi Original Hot Rod Poster Man Cave Car Garage 7079 | eBay
I had the early "Justification for a Higher Education" poster, with the boxer in the garage. I have one just like it in the garage now. (Edit: the poster, not the boxer) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yep, Mark is correct. I still have mine and checked it - definitely a 1983 date. I also got it from Spencers which was at the MetroCenter Mall in Jackson, MS. A few months back I took it and put it in a poster frame and now it hangs in my man-cave. PDG
I had two posters on my bedroom wall One was a black Contach the other Samantha Fox in a wet t shirt. Would of done anything to have a ride in either of them.
The only thing I can add here is that the plate is, indeed, Japanese, and it says "Shinagawa", which is the expensive part of Tokyo where most exotics are registered.
Still got my 328 GTB poster on a hard board from 1986, when I was 9 years old and around 3-4 years later a poster of Samantha Fox in a red aerobics outfit...haha
Longstone tyres give away free posters here Vintage Tires We have not as yet done a Ferrari realated poster, but if someone can supply me with a suitable; mildly titilating picture that i'm allowed to use i would love to do one. For the mean time here is our current poster. it has a tenuous link in that the car in question is fitting Pirelli Cinturato CA67 as did early Ferrari. Image Unavailable, Please Login
