The 599 has a modified version of the Enzo engine.

    From Wikipedia:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_599_GTB_Fiorano
"The 599's Enzo-sourced Tipo F133F 6.0 L (5999 cc) V12 engine produces a minimum 620 CV (620 hp/456 kW), making it the most-powerful series production Ferrari road car. Its 448 ft·lb (608 N·m) of torque will also be a high for Ferrari's GT cars. Most of the modifications to the engine were done to allow it to fit in the Fiorano's engine bay (the original Enzo version could be taller since the mid-mounted position allowed it to be so)."

    The 599 has this engine:
    6.0 L Tipo F133F V12

    The 612 has this engine:
    5.7 L Tipo F133E V12

    The Enzo has this engine:
    6.0 L V12

So it seems as if it's the 599 that has a modified version of the Enzo engine, and the 612 has a slightly different V12 engine with smaller displacement.

The 599 has a detuned Enzo engine while the 612 has a tuned 550 Maranello engine ( Not sure on the last part ..)

Actually, the 550 has this engine:
    5.5 L V12

While the 575M has this engine:
    5.7 L V12

(note that the model name clues you in on the engine displacement)

Since the 612 has a 5.7L engine, it's probably has a version of the 575M's engine.

I believe the Enzo V12 is chain driven and the 612/575/550 V12 is belt driven...

    best regards,

Thats correct and the 599 is chain driven like the enzo!
The 599 gtb Fiorano has a modified Enzo engine, modified for everyday use and easyier handling with the latest technologies from F430 gearchanging, the 599 is a very fast production car, while the enzo is a special series car!

    hope this helps

612 has an updated 575 engine. VERY SMOOTH. 599 engine is much more focused and harder.

I believe its Engine and tune. Different variants of the same engine family: F140.

The F140 engine (different variants - bore x stroke and tunes - 6.0 to 6.5 liters) is a V12 used on the Enzo, 599 and 599GTO, F12, FF, GTC4, 812, SP1 and SP2....until today's SP3. This engine was also used on the MC12. It is chain driven, DGI, 4 valve per cylinder, variable timing and intake (?). This engine won multiple prizes.

Concerning the F133, this engine (different variants - bore x stroke and tunes - 5.5 to 6.0 liters) was a V12 used on the 550, 575 (and 575 GTC) and 612. It is belt driven, has variable intakes and 4 valve per cylinder. This engine won multiple prizes back in the day.

    Just for fun:
    • On the 575 and 612, F133's peak power is at 7250rpm.
    • On the 599GTB, F140's peak power is at 7600rpm
    • On the Competizione, F140's peak power is at 9250rpm. Incredible evolution!

F133 engines only had two displacements, 5474 cc for the 550 and 5748 cc for the 575s and 612s. There was no production version with 6 liters, but there were racing versions.

Yes, the intake column has variable length on the F140 engines as well as the F133s. Camshafts have variable timing for intake and exhaust cams on the F140s; F133 valve timing is fixed.
