It says in the ad it serial # 3873GT, I was just wondering if it was real because the guy is not advertising it as a replica. I would think that a car of that status (if it was real) would not be put on the net to be sold, it would go in a big name auction or something.

yes, according to Raab - this GTE was a british market car, originally consigned to Col. Hoare, the sole authorized Ferrari importer of the day.

So this car is identical to an original Ferrari 250 GTO, but without the official documents/serial number ?
    Would be a steal for $1,000,000.00 :)

I like how the silver makes it look like a bare metal body..

This car has been on/off the market for several years - we were offered when it was in California 3 yrs ago.

Stunning car, with input from all the best "shops" in the UK to an exacting spec, for a discerning, lifelong collector...but still a replica!!!

i am sure the e-bay bid is a fake. still, the car is stunning and if i had the real money for the car, it would be in my garage. it is incredible and real enough for me.

Wasn't it being flogged for $500K when it was here in SoCal? Nice car, but I didn't think it was worth that price, given what replicars usually go for. But then I'm always astonished what certain Ferraris bring.

Non original cars are generally worth what it takes to make one. The history of the car, or their existence before today being deemed to be, in essence worthless.

The only reason to pay more would be for the instant gratification. So what is that worth? Plus the price of a nut and bolt identical copy.

The reality is that it is worth what someone is willing to pay.

Perhaps 2.5 to someone. My money says not.

This car on a great day is probably 500K. But what do I know?

I'd be willing to bet that you could still make the identical car for 300-400. It would be new also. Not in need of a restoration as that old one surely does by now. How old is that rubber, etc.?

By the way, were there any subtle improvements on the car

If not, then we might say that a superior car could have been had.

    Food for thought.

For the record. I have no interest in purchasing the subject car, and have no doubt that the new owner, when one is found, will love the ride.

It is quite apparent that that will take some time.
