Owned two 550s (and currently a 599) but I'm sorry, I don't see the 550 in this at all. I do like the looks, although I think the back end is a little too fussy. Just need to come up with an additional 200K...
The name of this car "F12" could not be a better name for it----------the name matches the car. 620 just did not do it for me. The sides and rear are amazing. This is Ferrari at its best. The sleek look with the fastback all the way to the aggressive front and the fog light gives it personality plus. The direction that Ferrari has taken is for the better. This vehicle has hit the ball out of the park. I am so glad they kept the exhaust towards the tires than in the middle of the rear as the 458. The wheels are a perfect match to this car. I can not say enough about it, very excited. I wonder how the DCT will handle the 720hp?
Overall I really like it, and it's a huge improvement over the 599. Still, the back looks a little visually empty to me. I think it would've benefitted from a 2nd set of tail lights, with maybe each set of lights sized down a bit. Forgive my non-existent Photoshop skills, but maybe someone talented can clean this up: I also LOVE the bi-colore treatment and 288 rear quarter panel gills added in this thread: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=358147 Image Unavailable, Please Login
That looks little to much for (just my personal HO). I prefer the clean look with the single tailights.
Here's how I feel the new F12's rear should look. I think the taillights are too big, making them smaller and adding another that is even smaller I think gives a good look to the rear of the car and echoes the typical Ferrari 4 tail light set up. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's not a brake light for F1 cars. F1 cars does not have brake lights. Instead that's just pit lane indicator as well as for safety reasons during a wet race. I'm guessing on the F12, it will serve as a safety indicator that flashes during a wet drive. Perhaps the driver can activate it.
I think the car looks stunning. However, i hope Ferrari won't design another car that has basically the look of the 458 front end. So far, we have 3 cars that look like the 458 itself : The 458 The FF The F12
Ferrari has gone down this road before. The Testarossa, Mondial, and 348 all shared the same basic side slates/ cheese graters. Some got more...some got less.
I was skeptical. I am now IN LOVE! I want one! I want one REALLY bad! Ferrari has got it really going on!
I too was skeptical, especially after the early pictures leading up to the release. I LOVE IT. I always expect the worst when it comes to Ferrari Press pictures. I thought the F430, 599 GTB and California all looked very questionable when they first came out, but upon seeing them in good pictures and especially in real life, you realize Ferrari knows what it's doing. This, even in the first pictures, looks amazing. Very agressive. Not a big fan of the F1 style light at the back, but we're not exactly sure of it's function at the moment so that could change. I'm really not to hyped about the interior either, I think the driver-focused style works well in the 458, but I wish the F12 had more of a standard centre console in the cabin. Overall, it's about 3-4 times better looking than I assumed it would be. I have a feeling it'll be an absolute stunner in the flesh. Very happy they chose F12 Berlinetta over F620 GT for the model name aswell.
A couple of details: 1. The channels down the sides of the hood that ends in the tunnel to the door slashes is visible in the Ferrari video at about 0:31:[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uQXYpKvUuk[/ame] with hints elsewhere. 2. The tach appears to redline at 8000 RPM, relatively low.
Ah, now I understand how that part of the bodywork is formed and I must say, it´s spectacular. Kinda like the free standing C-pillars on the 599.
The double taillights make it look like the back of a Nissan GT-R. I like the single light setup, just as I did with the 599. No more lights than absolutely necessary. With an exception for the ultimately cool F1-light.
No it's not just you. It's definitely got a face. A big snarly face. The Asian markets like faces on their cars, that's were they take a car's 'personality' from. In the next few years, with the way the Asian economies are flowering, that's going to be a massive market for the likes of Ferrari (possibly the most important?) so I'm guessing they figure that the rest of us just won't mind. And I'm sure we won't when it's done this well.
Indeed. You also have to wonder why people think they know better than Pininfarina or if they think Pininfarina never tried out double lights.
