My race 512TR weighs 2800, Once I add a full carbon body maybe 2700 minimum It would take A LOT of $ to get her down another 200# as you'd have to add lots of exotic metals or more carbon parts
I will continue the upgrades of my fuel pump in this thread. The fuel pump on my passenger's side went bad. So I am going to remove both pumps to replace with new ones. It appears Bosch fuel pumps are not really reliable or high quality. Here' s a step by step tutorial of how to drop your fuel cells and remove the pumps. Be very careful and make sure you take all precautions to prevent fires! Adam, no words other than your detail, photos, description and advice is beyond belief. Honestly, I said it before 'book material'.
Seeing this all Adam, I am afraid I allso once have to do this to the sister TR. So please keep us informed the way we are used to with you :-o) !
This all started when he learned how to put those little graphic desription tags on his pictures. Show off.
Here's the last part of the fuel pump replacement/upgrade. I decided to stay with Bosch since it will be easier, ( The correct fuel pumps came in. Do not TRUST ROCKAUTO.COM on their part numbers!) but any kind of fuel pump can be retrofitted to the 512TR easily if you choose that route. . I was NOT about to stick in the original grommet that Ferrari had in it. It was so deterioted that the new oem one would do the same within a short amount of time. I didn't want the oem grommet to rot again and have to pull the tanks off. I decided to make my own grommet with gas/alcohol rated hose from today's standards. What I did was take a new fuel line hose and cut it down the middle and used the part that is rated for fuel. You will see how I got the new pump to fit in perfectly and not having to worry for a very long time about the rubber grommet I made. (Not to mention it cost about $4.00 to make). I would also recommend changing out the fuel filters too. YOU CAN NOT USE THE OUTER LAYER HOSE for gas. It will fall apart like the OEM grommet did. Enjoy. I must say that we who reads this thread are very grateful to you. As someone said before in the thread your story telling and pictures of detail is book material. Big thanks and keep up the good work. We love it and learn so much from your experience, also when it is not going to plan. Best Regards and Greetings from Sweden // MrSweden

Hey Mel, That pump may work you have pictured, but one of the issues I see already is that the diameter of the pump looks too small to fit in the canister. You also want to make sure it can keep up with the fuel demand needed. The 512TR pumps are about $220 a piece for the OEM that I have found.
It is a risk when not O.K. because of all the work.... that's true..! But the difference in price is also big.... and we need two...
adam, fantastic work, all the 512tr owners on here owe you big time ! wish i could hand you my car next winter!
I meant: if you find a cheap fuelpump and put it in the 512TR and the result is not what was exepected.... what did you save ... You must do it all over again and pay more Dollars for the OEM pumps... Don't take the risk of using unknown cheap fuelpumps...!
Oh, I now understand what you meant. Actually I stayed OEM on the fuel pumps. But to be honest with you the OEM fuel pumps from Bosch in my opinion are junk. You could stick a walbro 255 pump in here and it would work just fine. Only issue would be needing a bracket to hold the pump in place which really isn't a big deal to do. I didn't have the time to fab one up. The Bosch pumps where not much more than the walbros.
just finished your post,,great, thanks,,i did see you replaced the inj's with yellow ones ,,i didn't see what style/brand/and #,,the stock ones look like some i had in a customers 300zx twin turbo,,you deff should write books on these cars
had a question , what was the NGK plugs that you put in your 512 , getting ready to pull my motor and want to change them out .
