Gents! What do you all think about the horizontal livery on the tdf? I personally think it's far more striking when seen in person versus any pictures but I'm interested in your opinions. Truthfully, I'm not completely sold on it BUT I want to be open minded and a bit more unique. I'm still exploring with the help of a fellow Fchatter triple layer blues as well. Any thoughts would be mightily appreciated.
I don't care for the stripe. I think theres a ton going on with the car already but thats me. The key thing is you enjoy it. No matter what you do, you will love the car. I have no doubt. My vote would be Blu Corsa.
The tdf has been the most challenging car I've specced. I still can't put my finger on why it's been so demanding, perhaps it's the opposing forces: the powerful grace associated with a front V12 (beautifully captured by the F12, 599, 575 and 550 for example) versus the vibrant aggression normally associated with an extreme V8 (the Speciale, Scud and 360 CS for example)? Who knows. I've been trawling so many threads, walking past so many showrooms (Porsche, Aston etc) checking out colours and even positioning some of my own cars up against each other to compare their colours (Ferro, RC, TDF, AN). And a call out to dc for his vital contributions too (seriously). If it's possible to have pain and pleasure at the same time, deciding on the spec of the tdf has been it for me. But yesterday I finally agreed with my dealer the spec. It's done. It's a wrap. I am excited but relieved. And I have committed to myself that no matter the brilliant ideas I see on future posts from my fellow Band of Brothers, I will not be turned! (I'll go nuts). The final cut: Exterior: Argento Nurburgring Single racing stripe nose to tail in John Lennon's 1965 330 GT Azzuro Blue. Diamond wheels. Nero Lucido calipers. Gloss carbon exterior (inc hub cups, fog lamp, underdoor cover, exterior front). Body colour exterior mirrors. Standard exhaust pipes (brightest metal choice to contrast). Scuderia shields. Interior: Blue medio, with a mix/contrast between leather and alcantara all in Blue medio. White rev counter. Carbon travel rear bench. Carbon dashboard inserts. Horse stitched on headrest in Grigio Chiaro. Daytona racing seats. Plus usual extras: lifter, passenger display, hi end audio, fire ext, carpets with logo, cameras etc. I've tried to combine purpose with style, grace with aggression. I've tried to create something a little special while restricting the number of colours used, and instead use differences in texture and finish to create contrast. If I wasn't in the UK, the triple yellow would have been fun. Titanio looks beautiful. And I may regret not going for good old standard Rosso Corsa which few will spec but in the flesh I'm sure will be breathtaking. Slot tbc but probably around Q3. Will wait for the render. The most challenging car yet to spec, but what fun. I'm done
Your specs are perfect Camlet. I saw the combination of silver paint and blue leather on a Porsche it was stunning.
I think that's a terrific spec and you are trying to achieve exactly what I am, but so far failing. Congratulations and don't get turned as I long to see it-any renders? I think we are both looking for something classy but distinctive and reflective of the fact this is a special car but without resorting to yellow to make the point. Like you, were I living elsewhere, that yellow would be right up there as a possible. I hope I have a similar flash of inspiration when at TM as after months of consideration, I am still only partially there, and you are totally right as I too have found this the most demanding of specs.
dc: Thanks mon ami, I'm serious when I said without your incredible "scouting", and passionate opinion (yes I went gloss), it would have been infinitely more difficult to arrive at a happy place. Traveller: Tim, that's very generous of you. You know "what's what" more than just about anyone. Good luck with your visit, I'm sure you'll nail it. F2003-GA: Having informed friends give a spec you've spent countless hours thinking about a thumbs up is re-assuring and kick-ass special. Thank you!
Camlet, I think blu medio for the interior is a great choice, much nicer (colourful!) than charcoal or black. The leather/alcantara contrast as you say is subtler and classier than a 2 tone interior. Definitely a great interior spec that goes fantastic with Argento+blu stripe on the outside. I might add that it would still be a perfect interior spec for a Grigio Alloy body, should you consider an ultra-lastest-minute change Just kidding... as I said before, Argento N. is one of the greatest colours for the F12tdf.
Great spec Camlet.Congratulations.Do not think about spec again ! I am a fan of TDF but AN would definitely be my second choice. I love the Daytona Sports Seats which to me are the right combination of tradition and modernity.Really looking forward to seeing pictures in Q3.
Beautiful spec Camlet! Congratulations! Two small questions: 1. Did you consider the aluminum rev counter? This is a TDF only option I understand why you went white but the aluminum probably isn't too far off and likely works with your stitching as well as the exterior Argento... 2. Does "etc" = all the track telemetry type things? I say you might as well get that stuff. Even if never used it would be interesting to have and its near impossible to install these things after the fact.
You articulated the situation that a few of us also feel. I'm very happy that you arrived to a decision of what will be an amazing looking tdf. I hope in time to come to a decision as well sometime soon! Cheers!
I don't like mate paints but in those three pictures it gives the Tdf a nasty look https://www.instagram.com/p/BBEbp8sLMwC/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BBFldPhq_qj/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BBC1-v_QN82/
I can help you with that, ROMO style! Spec triple layer yellow. Buy used triple layers painted TDF (fuoco and Nart blue) Problem solved Love the horizontal stripe btw, would order it with one.
Thanks! Per your questions: I did look at the "aluminium" rev counter but white was a sharper contrast to the blue medio interior. Plus I had seen the rev counter discs at the factory and they're wafer thin plastic. The white, yellow or red I get but fake aluminium? Not for me. The fact I'm paying 464 GBP for the same plastic albeit coloured white is silly enough . Per question two, to be honest I will not use the Telemetry Kit nor Track Cameras and between them that's 7,600 GBP. I'm not mean but that's too much for a tick box so I didn't add. Forgot to add, stitching will be tone on tone. Again tried to keep theme relatively simple and felt interior was already well "stocked" with visual goodies.

You may want to add Apple Carplay. Officially now available as an option - just spoke to my dealer and we have added this to my spec and has been confirmed. Apparently just became available in the last day or two.
