Hi Watched the video once more. At 3:05 the guy said, the SA Aperta came out with a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox, and about 50 of the 80 has the older 6 speed F1 gearbox. Is this correct ? I never heard that before. I can't believe this. Can someone confirm this ? Daniel
Nope, too much reengineering required for a limited production vehicle. Plus she would have had to be recertified, consumption tests redone, etc.
There might be a confusion between the 599GTB F1 gearbox and the 599GTB aesthetic elements, such as the bumpers and front hood. True that some SA Aperta borrow elements from the GTB, but the SA Aperta is definitely based on the 599GTO mechanics (engine, gearbox, clutch...). And the number of 80 is still funny to hear [emoji56]
Can't believe the crap people are saying... Not really. The SA Aperta is not a GTO Spider. It's a 599 HGTE chassis with a GTO engine. It's far closer to a regular GTB than to a GTO
599 GTB: front - 245/40ZR19 (245/35ZR20 optional) rear - 305/35ZR20 599 SA Aperta: front - 245/35 ZR20 rear - 305/35 ZR20 599 GTB HGTE: front - 245/35ZR20 rear - 305/35ZR20 It is the softer compound combined with a drop in ride height and more negative camber that do the trick on the HGTE. 599 GTO: front - 285/30 ZR20 rear - 315/35 ZR20 The suspension and electronics of the GTO differ much more from the other models with quite a few 'tricks' taken from the 599XX programme. Daniel- Here you go: 599/HGTE/SA Aperta Five Spoke F 19”, R 20”, 5 X 114.3 mm Front 8J X 19 ET 43.5 mm, Rear 11J X 20 ET 63.8 mm Challenge Monolithic 20”, 5 X 114.3 mm Front 8J X 20 ET 43.5 mm, Rear 11J X 20 ET 63.8 mm HGTE/SA Aperta Five Spoke 20”, 5 X 114.3 mm Front 8.5J X 20 ET 40 mm, Rear 11J X 20 ET 63.8 mm 599 GTO Five V/Ten Spoke 20”, 5 X 114.3 mm Front 9.5J x 20” ET 38.1 mm, Rear 11.5J x 20” ET 63.8 mm
So does the SA have the GTO 6 to 1 exhaust? What about shocks? This car sounds like they took a bunch of left over GTO engines and stuck them in a 599, cut the top off and done.
George- SA was basically an HGTE with GTO engine, including a 6-1 exhaust shown below. A few mods to the body, too. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My question is a bit off topic but related to what you just said: did Ferrari go the same way for the F60 America, with a F12b basis fitted with a f12tdf engine?
