Time flies Well, we have the saying 'better late than never'... I'm happy you've posted these pictures. Now the real challenge begins sourcing a copy... Thanks!
Nothing at all to do with collectables but at one of the first Goodwood Festivals of Speed, I recall seeing John Surtees in the paddock, sitting on the wheel of a Mercedes (W154?) he was demonstrating. He was surrounded by 'older' bikers and obviously enjoying a good chat. A stream of autograph hunters tenatively approached him and every time he stopped to thank them and exchange a few words. A real gentleman, unlike so many of today's instant celebrities.
"Il Gran John" spent a good twenty minutes with me in the Goodwood paddock talking about the first race I ever attended, which was also his maiden victory for the Scuderia: the 1963 12 Hours of Sebring.

Hi I started this post in the Vintage section several years ago This is based on my collection "Ferrari The Golden Years 1947-1967.I post this here to give your readers a chance to go and have a look. The collection contains over 420 volumes, which are being reviewed one by one. As of today I am just less than one third of the way through this process. The post has over 32,000 hits so it seems to be quite popular. This collection also includes all original publications of Cavallion and Forza magazines to date, over 100 manuals on individual groups of Ferrari cars,a collection of over 800 images of Ferrari persona of the period. There is more but the book reports I think may be of particular interest to your readers. Have a look and give me your impressions. If possible post your replies on the Vintage section web site Thanks tonga's. crew
Hi nice to see one of my book reviews referred to. This is part of what these book reviews are intended for. I am less than half way thru so there are many more to com.Regards tonga's crew
Hello guys. Any opinions for this: Assouline | Luxury Books on Fashion, Travel, Design, Art, Architecture and Cusine Thank you in advance.
That looks nice. The author Ken Gross is an enthusiast so it should be good. And who doesn't like the 275 GTB? That reminded me of a book published about a year ago about Preston Henn's yellow 275 GTB/C. Incidentally, the homage for the latest SP, the SP275. Not sure if this book ever got mentioned. Either one would be good. -F Image Unavailable, Please Login
The book on the 275 GTB Competizione 06885 is produced by the online publisher Blurb. They have two other titles of note, especially if you have an interest in restoration. Both books are about projects by Paul Russell and Company, with numerous photos of the restoration in process. A Restoration Story: The Ferrari Testa Rossa No. 0724 TR. The other title is A Restoration Story: The Ferrari 212 Vignale Coupe No. 0267 EU. The books are the same size and format as the 275 book. The one problem ordering these books from Blurb is shipment. Terrible packing. I ordered the three books together, all were damaged in transit. While the books are shrink wrapped, there is no protection around the books at all; they are simply put loose into a weak book mailer that was readily crushed. I refused to pay for the books unless they were replaced, complaining about the packing protocol. They did reply and sent me a new set of books, but my request for better packing was ignored - second set shipped in the same miserable manner as the first. I got lucky the second time and the books were ok inside, but not by design. However, I like the books and hope Paul Russell and Company will do similar works in the future.
Regarding my last post, just to be clear, the issue of shipment was with the publisher Blurb directly, nothing related to Paul Russell and Company.
Delivered today and I have not had an opportunity to study it in any detail yet. About 16 pages of words but this is primarily a picture book, with lot of phptos of the restoration work and close ups detail shots. It is well produced and I look forward to studying it. The price in the ad seems high. My copy came from Amazin at GBP34.12 (= USD 43 at today's rate).
