Looks like 1975 maybe? I just returned from Rennsport and it reminded me of what a terrific racecar the RSR was. The 935's are as sensational now as they were back in the day. Thanks for posting.

Guy, I can not remember many things from that period of my life. Except that I lived through standing in many precarious places to take a photo. All that is important is that I remember my wedding anniversary and my wife's birthday. Although for some strange reason, recently I can suddenly remember the names of all the women with whom I shared physical pleasure.

    Now that is strange.

Adding some color, my photo of Brian Redman, F5000, at Road America. A couple of years ago, I took a print of this photo to Amelia, Brian is a fixture there. I asked him to sign it, which he did after a minute of looking at it with his mouth open. All he said was incredible photo.

That mirror shot of Brian was my first. I was returning to Dayton from Phoenix via Flagstaff. As I was leaving Flagstaff, I looked in my exterior rear view mirror, great view of snow capped mountains. Too dangerous to pull over, so I took a photo of that rear view mirror. I thought would that work with my race photos??

And it led to this one at Long Beach. Long story short, Mario wrecked the Lotus at Mosport practice, as I was packing my equipment, I sensed someone next to me. Mario. I told him my car had garage passes, I would give him a ride. I did, but when you go off track at 160 mph, you do not want to answer to any idiot press person, so I said absolutely nothing. He said thanks. Fast forward Long Beach. To do this shot you have to lean on the car. I got down, started to focus, and then I hear Colin Chapman yelling "get that f**king photographer off the car"!!! Mario waved off the mechanics, I took the photos, nodded thank you and walked away. Then a couple other photographers tried the same, they got booted. Thank you Mario!

    RP,

What a lucky dog you are, your photos are outstanding. If someone was interested in acquiring one or two photos, without running afoul of Ferrari Chart rules or your friend Vinny, how would you do so? Being from PA Mario and Michael are heroes of mine. The picture of Mario in the mirror if not publish, it should have been.

The photos you see on this thread were downloaded from the originals which are in storage in Florida. I am in Mexico until late November.

Also the photos you see are the ones I kept despite my contract. At the end of a race I had to turn over 10 color slide rolls, and 5 B&W rolls. I never got photo credit, the contractor did. So the ones you see are mine, and the 10 year non compete is well over. If you just want them for yourself, just copy. Problem, some are very small, so copies may not turn out well.

I remember being at Ontario the weekend there was some sort of comparison of IndyCars and F1. It really sucks forgetting such things. Like I said before, I remember my wife's birthday and our anniversary. Nothing else matters.........right?

That's what I thought, though of course that was F1 vs F5000 in 1971.

I always liked this photo of Jacky Ickx and his Ferrari at that race, since it shows the very last vestiges of dry-weather tire tread before they went all slick a few races later.

I will buy into that. Many times, I had to cover victory lane, circle, what ever they are called today. I would take photos, turn over the raw film, then drive 10-12 hours back to Dayton.

Then I wondered who won that race? Sometimes when you work, you work.

Mario in the 312B, 1971. He also won South Africa GP that year, his first F1 win.

These are all great pics. Long time lurker, first post. I found a box of old pictures, mostly F1 from the early nineties but i believe this photo is from the late 80s . . . Spice powered by Ferrari at Road Atlanta if I remember correctly.
