I have a virtually identical shot of Emo from Long Beach. I'm sure we rubbed elbows a time or two Ron. Hopefully I didn't spoil any of your shots.

    Cheers,
    Kurt O.

The abbreviated 1975 Spanish GP: Reutemann, Depailler, Lauda, Tom Pryce. Is John Morton driving a Lola T400 at Road Atlanta? Not a successful car. Many thanks for posting.

Several spectators killed (4, I think) and the Spanish GP was never held again at that location. Montjuich Park, above Barcelona, was a fairly high speed street circuit. Spectators were allowed just a few feet behind the Armco barriers with nothing but a flimsy low fence between them and the track. Dangerous, but it sure was exciting, especially when you're only in your twenties.

You are correct. The John Morton/Lola combination was not competitive at that race. But, then again, he was up against Andretti, Unser, Brian Redman - guys like that.

Thanks to all who post here - a very enjoyable thread.

A few more . . . . . Lella Lombardi garnered a half point for her sixth place in the shortened Spanish GP; Embassy-Hill F1; a UOP Shadow F5000, I think, although I've long since lost the program for that race; Al Unser Jr in the reborn CanAm series which consisted mainly of F5000 cars with full bodywork.

Thank you for posting the photographs. Is the Embassy Hill in the photo driven by Rolf Stommelen? As I recall it was his car that went into the crowd(wing failure). Didn't the Shadow F5000 cars run Dodge power for a year or two? Thanks again.

No, the Embassy-Hill is Francois Migault in the second car.

The people who were killed and injured in 1975 were standing in a prohibited area IIRC; when I went there in 1973 the circuit didn't seem especially dangerous but the 1975 event started with the barriers having been insufficiently fixed, the drivers refusing to race and teams being threatened with impoundment, team members themselves bolting loose barriers together, and general chaos which is mainly why they never went back.

The Lola T400 was based on the T332 chassis but with rising-rate suspension (which was all the rage), lower radiators and sleeker bodywork; it took a long time to make it work, by which time most people had lost interest and gone back to the outstanding T332.

Thanks for the clarification. Did Tony Brise ever drive F1 for Hill or did the accident with Graham take place before the season? Memory is a bit hazy(as are my photos).

I attended the following GP in 75 at Monaco. Lauda in the 312T walked away with it.

Let me answer my own question. Tony Brise drove for Graham for the second half of the 1975 season, the accident took place in late 1975.

And I would bet you if a series like that could be reborn, with the proper rules and management, it could THRIVE.
But you have to find a way to connect with fans, keep the costs low, AND keep the folks with deep pockets OUT.

    A nice pipe dream....

The reconstituted CanAm struggled back in the day. There were perhaps 4 or 5 front line cars in the field, and a number of also-rans. Anyone have photos of the Schkee?

Yes Detroit. I had retired from walking around with like 50 pounds of equipment, a friend needed photos for some sort of promo, so I agreed. Only three hour drive. I was so out of shape.
