There's been a lot of chat here about the price and delays with the colour Ferrari used for the show car - dubbed Nuovo Rosso Scuderia - supposedly a 3-layer paint to match the F1 car.

I asked my UK dealer about it and he told me apparently the paint reacts with the aluminium and at present it's not available. The reason may be plausible as the race-car's CF. Is this permanently or temporarily unavailable? Anyone actually got a Scud in this colour?

FWIW the F1 paint (perhaps this refers to Rosso Scuderia) was originally generated to make the race car look more RED on tv - in other words look more Rosso Corsa on tv - due to the effect that tv apparently had on the standard colour.

Am I correct in saying that all the shots in the 430 Scud brochure are Nuovo Rosso Scuderia - they don't say but in many of them it looks just like Rosso Corsa?

I tried to order Nuovo, but my dealer said it would add 6+ months to my order.

I saw this color on a FXX Evolutione. Very nice.

Nuovo rosso scuderia has been discontinued as a color you can spec until they can figure out the problem.

I saw an Enzo and a Scuderia exactly in this colour two weeks ago by Zanasi in Maranello. The guy there told me that this red is named "Rosso Monte Carlo" because the Formula 1 Team used this colour for the first time at the Grand Prix from Monaco last year!

p.s. it doesn't look like Rosso Corsa. It's got a sort of burnt orange hue to it. On the FXX, it was clearly metallic and very rich looking. Nicer than Rosso Corsa, if you ask me, but not sure about that $$ premium!

A lot of the brochure pictures and PR video were shot at Paul Ricard last September when we were there with the FXXs, and that car was Nuovo Rosso Scuderia / Rosso Monte Carlo - it did look good, and that is why I wanted one in that colour. But when I was told that it was unavailable I went in a different direction.......

It is very hard to spray on carbon. A million pin holes are present and you have to sand it back down and shoot it 3-4 times. I would assume with painted carbon they just primer it heavy which would eliminate this problem normally.
