Any data bases out there where one can define the true number of 88's that are still rolling? I can't seem to find much out there.

Given there were only 35 coupes made for the North American market, there probably aren't many.

I have one. Very late 88 with ABS and no console warning panel. 5K miles, just serviced. I have had it for many years. Occasionally think about selling it through my dealership, but then I drive it and change my mind.

I have one with a February ‘88 build date and just under 65K miles . Just had it out this evening for the first time in a month. Still an absolute joy to drive - great sounds, great feel, and an overall wonderful experience with the smell of the leather and warm motor.

    Great machine!

I read somewhere there was an estimate of 100-200 1988 Mondial 3.2's still registered as on the road globally. This would imply about a 10 percent survival rate from the original production, which would seem plausible as they were generally not treated as carriage trade collectible cars so many would have attritioned out of the fleet. More coupes than cab's produced, and many Euro cars seem to make it to the US more than the other way around.

Of those cars in the US, there must be very few in well maintained condition, probably a handful.

OK close, I had read here that the numbers were 46 (or was it 47?) total imports into NA in '88. I like your 35 number better!

These are the 3.2 coupe production figures I've seen. Do not recall the source, but this came from somewhere here on Fchat:

3.2 Coupe Production Years—1986-1988: 987 Worldwide, of which 87 went to the US/CA

    Mondial 3.2 Coupe 1986 (Chassis numbers 61851 - 66205) #29 in US/CA

    Mondial 3.2 Coupe 1987 (Chassis numbers 66781 - 73347) #23 in US/CA

    Mondial 3.2 Coupe 1988 (Chassis numbers 74455 - 78666) #35 in US/CA

Holy smokes. Would be great to somehow drill the numbers down to how many in the US and Canada are actually registered. I'd guess that ten have been totaled and another 10 are $25K ~ $30K rolling beaters that need a lot of attention. Safe assumption? That would leave 15 good examples. Guessing that one, maybe two are in concourse condition with 10K or less miles, the remaining 8 if in nice condition should be worth hanging on to over the next 5-10 years. Value wise, the 87's would probably be worth the most out of the three years.

87 worth most because? Not sure what they have over the 1986's, 1988's have some cleaner finishing trim in the front trunk, have functionally decent ABS brakes and lack the console panel warning lights.

Just by the lower numbers that were imported into Canada and the US, that's all. Any credence to that?

The market will have to figure out the net benefit of the Abs on the 88's, and some 87's, The non-Abs wins on repair/restore practicality, while the Abs does have functional benefits.

Probably the most valuable will depend on the exterior and interior colour choices collectors may prefer, and which tends to shift about over time.

Frunk trim is a nice touch, ABS is simple, but functional, not having the console panel warning lights is a big plus as I understand they are a big PIA to maintain/repair and don't really offer much benefit.
These and a few other factors are why I bought my 88.

Glad you decided to keep it Dave! Thank you for letting me see it and go for a ride. As I recall, it was an excellent example. That was back in 2013, just before I got my own.

Wow! That's really cool! I think a lot of people would be surprised to learn that 3.2 Mondial Coupes are rarer than a F40. Being a Ferrari, I'd assume that the rate of attrition is much lower than most cars. It wouldn't surprise me if 75-80% of the 3.2 Mondials (Coupes especially) brought into the US are still around.

As for one year model over another, I was hoping to find an '86 3.2 Coupe due to the lack of ABS but have been extremely happy with the '88 that I've had for 6 years now.

How would you tell how many are still on the road in the US? Is there a way? Carfax all the VINs maybe?

In the UK there were, I believe, 82 Mondial 3.2 Coupes delivered new and 61 are currently registered, which gives one data point for the survival rate.

You're kidding right? In the first pic there is a picnic bench behind the car near the rear. I don't see any rear wing in any of the pics.

I have a 1988 3.2 coupe .... Currently with Chris at Ferrari getting some services done.. mine is 77799. Ferrari service department would consider mine a nice survivor with all original equipment except the air pump and radio. everything else works and the car has about 57000 miles on it.
