Not all headers are created equal!!!

Or just buy challenge headers or bang the pre-cat out of the stock ones.

 

I paid $999 for Top Speed manifolds on my first F430 and they performed fantastically well. I bought Capristo for my current F430 and really miss the sound and power delivery of the 4-1 Top Speed.

My next move will be to Supersprint.

Equal length is one consideration, and the quality of the merge collector is another. OEM 430 of any type is really bad in this regard and the primaries are too small.

 

Do you know if the Challenge headers are different from the 99 headers? The Challenge headers are about $1k more but look similar in pics.

SS is my first choice in aftermarket. Looking to give the Challenge headers a try with their 4-2-1 design.

 

Top speed for the 360s are trash. They fit horrible and don't sound that good. I have them on my car. Some of the flanges were 1/4" off of the others and pretty much every mounting hole had to be ground out. I had to deck the **** out of them. They included thick gaskets to mount them to the block to try and make up for how off the flanges are. If you use them, the locking part of the nuts aren't able to reach the studs.

The owner was ****** too, but sure acted like a victim when I put him on blast for it.

I heard 430 fitment is a lot better however.

Yes you can.. check out header shield. That is who did this.

Equal length is very important yes but also don't forget on headers which have Air Injection rails on the header it destroys the entire concept of using equal length headers in the first place. Think about for a moment what it actually does!

 

This guy right here sold me on removing the air rail system on my car.

 

Would the OEM Challenge headers be suitable for CS, or would Tubi be a better choice ?

 

@360trev could you elaborate on the deleterious impact of the air rails? (pun intended...see what I did there?) I have Capistro headers on my scud and wondering if I too should delete them lol! In the next couple months I'll be adding sport cats (and hopefully your tune to avoid low-rpm torque loss), so maybe I should do the rail delete at the same time?

 

I have tubi on my CS. Couldn't be happier.

I agree with you. My 2005 with stock exhaust and top speed headers was the best sounding 430 around. I put an exhaust switch on it as well and everyone loved the sound. My cars sound sold about 5 sets of top speed headers in our group. Lol. Best sales man they had was my 2005
