As suggested by FF (he does have good ideas) here is a spotters thread for things other than Ferrari and Lambo, so people can't whinge about it any more.

    I'll start off:

Continental Flying Spur (4-door Conti GT) at the Sth Perth golf course this arvo.....awkward looking car!

Plenty of presence but doesn't look as good as the GT. The rear seat isn't nearly as comfortable as the new S-class either.

Was at the Porker museum yesterday, got a couple of pics which I'll post later when on a faster connection. Also went in to a dealer nearby to see if they had the new GT3 but learnt it has been delayed due to some factory glitch. Anyway, got a neat brochure (which is infact a hard cover book) with lots of info and pics...but in German. Will bring it on the Alice trip for Scud.

Also, local goss is that the ferrari horse was originally the emblem for Stuttgart which Porkers have on their shield and that Enzo bought it after the war. Anyone heard that before?

i'm poddling along alexandra av in melbourne this a.m. when i passed a little white citroen ax gt. when i was a pommie van driver in the 80's they were always worth a good ogle 'cos they were invariably driven by sexy chicks. sadly no s.c. at the wheel this time but i haven't seen this model in aus. in over 15 years. i went about 1km down the road, turned in to side street and blow me down there was another one, parked and facing toward me! either it was a twighlight zone moment or the first one's driver knows a faster way into richmond than me.
oh and i saw 8 ferraris today as well, do they count? can they get into richmond any faster? can you be as committed in a million dollar f50 as you can in a 600 buck citroen? or a 100 buck renault for that matter?

i know stuff all but i'd always felt that as , i believe, 'ferrari' is effectively 'smith' in italian, the ironworkers' natural affinity with the horse would make it an ideal symbol for speed.
anybody know where carlo abarth found his scorpion? or bill lyons his jaguar?

as with all cars with their engine hanging out of their arse, maybe its a coded warning for what happens should you push too hard?

well actually, if you look at the profile of the abarth X1/9 (with snorkel) you'll clearly see the whole scorpion motif.

anybody notice the apparently innocent selection by the mythbusters of possibly the strongest little car ever made to crush between two trucks? and that when they stuffed it up first go the x1/9 took a massive hit from one truck right up the arse, and nothing forward of the b pillar was even ruffled?
tuf car, especially with a twinky dropped in the slot.

yar, it certainly was an odd choice for a 'sport compact'... as mentioned earlier, the X1/9 and it's contemporary volvo were the only cars at the time to pass the 'proposed' US crash test specs, in short, it is able to withstand a frontal impact at 70kph and rollover at 120kph without impeding the cabin structure, no domestic cars could come close so it was abandoned.

integral roll bar - monocoque structure being lifted by lovely ladies
all the different versions - the competition models
standard - abarth - di fulvio - di fulvio
