Hi folks, For your information, I have recently purchased a NOCO GB50. It's a jumpstarter that comes in a nice box. It's barely bigger than a sunglass box, and much much smaller and lighter than the old school battery boosters using lead acid batteries. It takes no space in the boot, and is rated up to 7 liters. I used to carry a pair of jump cables in my boot all the time, but this is much more convenient, as smaller, lighter and you dont need another car to jump start yours. It also works whatever position you parked in as opposed to classic cables. Im not affiliated with NOCO at all, but I just thought it was worth sharing considering the recurring issues we see with batteries on our cars.
Excellent info, thanks for sharing. How long does it stay on standby? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's great info, indeed with the common battery issues with our cars. Before Black Friday last year, I was looking into having one to keep in car. Then I changed my mind after seeing several posted video of the thing start having smoke and flame come out it for no particular reason. May I should still get one, but I would not leave it unattended in the car if I were you. Has anyone tried it?
Have you actually tried to jump a v12 ferrari with this? Last time I tried one of these smaller batteries it did absolutely nothing.
I have a GB50, and it will absolutely jump a dead 812. If the battery is dead with these you have to put them into bypass mode, otherwise they'll do nothing.
It worked perfectly when I used it to start my Lusso V12 after a week in the airport parking lot. It wouldnt even crank at all with the battery only, but started as normal as soon as the Noco was connected. The battery is advertised to stay charged "up to a year" but after the initial charge I charged it again about 6 weeks later, and all the lights were on (so full) but when I plugged it in the last one started blinking and did so for maybe 30min, so there was probably a bit of discharge there.
I’m not sure about a year, but I use noco products in a professional shop and the battery does last for quite awhile. Sometimes they will sit in the drawer for 4+ months and it’ll still start a car. I keep one at home and I don’t worry about charging it unless I’ve jumped a car a couple times.
