A few more picture updates. All the side glass pieces are now in, and interior work is starting. As you can see the dash needed some work to get it back to original configuration. The headliner, the vinyl sills and area behind seats are glued in place. Bracket had to be made to match original trunk latch. Now that the headliner is in the front and rear windscreen can be installed. Hi Jon: Your car is coming together beautifully and that color is fantastic. I noticed that you don't have any holes for the side turn indicators (just behind the headlights). Did you decide to cover the holes and exclude them on this car? Just curious. Keith
Some update pictures from today. The front and rear glass is in with no issues, always time for nail biting with rear glass. A new fuel filler neck was sourced as the old one was for a 246 screw on cap. Silsl installed along with new rubber. The gas filler cap looks like a piece of jewelry the way it reflex in the paint job. It's beautiful! Nice job you guys! Steve
David's 206 is moving along. The seats and dash are in process. The headrests which are mounted directly to the firewall did not exist in David's car, so I removed mine and had to completely take off the vinyl to make patterns to make the sheet metal pieces for David's car. Even after faithfully copying mine there was still trimming to do to get them to fit David's car. They can now be covered in Dino vinyl. The 206 is really a beautiful car!!! Today I finished putting the last bits and pieces on the car before it goes to Steve K. For final color sand. As for the exhaust he has ordered an original from the factory. He is lacking a gas cap (it's from my car) and an ashtray. The car was resurrected from a bastardized 206 back to original configuration including color. Great photos Jon! What a fabulous job you did putting this beauty back together. David is quite lucky you had your 206 around the shop to use as a template and donor. It really turned out well. Do you remember when the car was brought to us? Check out the photo below on the day I first saw it. Boy, it's nice to bring these cars back to their original state. I look forward to getting the car back after the first of the year for its final detail before being delivered back to the client. I'm also looking forward to receiving our next project. As always, it is a pleasure working with you. Steve http://stevekouracos.wordpress.com/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jon, What did you do for bumpers? Did you have or find some original ones or use the harrington ss replicas? Curious how they turned out...
They came from Dinoparts.de. They are chrome, not stainless. Much more expensive than Harrington and certainly no complaints as too their quality and fit.
what an interesting photo! great car! great restoration!! great team!!! when you guys are done all the dinos...get to making the market for boxers next would ya?
Jon: Your 206GT is beautiful. I was admiring the photos and noticed that you used two different materials to cover the dash - mouse hair on the top and cluster surround and Dino vinyl on the driver/passenger facing panels. I started looking at 206GT photos in various books and magazines and all I can see are cars with dashes finished exclusively in vinyl or exclusively in mousehair. Admittedly, most of the photos are black and white and some of the color photos may be of cars that could have already had their dashes recovered. I know that you and Matthias do your homework when restoring Dinos and that he too has recovered his dash using this two-material approach. Do you know if your car (and perhaps other 206GTs) were originally upholstered using two different materials on the dash or did you decide to go this way because you liked the look. Just curious. Keith
Hello Keith, all 206 GT production cars had the mousehair and vinyl mix on the dashboard originally. Only very few prototypes had a full vinyl dashboard (see picture in the manual for example). Regards Matthias
I hate to see it leave my shop, it's so beautiful! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
We don't waste any time. We like to see our clients enjoying their cars. They're meant to be on the road not stuck in somebody's body shop. Steve http://stevekouracos.wordpress.com/
The owner just dropped off his beautiful 206. It really has to be one of the finest in the world! We have a couple minor war wounds to repair and a final detail. The owner will be back to pick up soon. He's told us it's going into his living room! He's installed some sliding doors so he won't have to move any walls. As soon as I'm finished it will be going to a photo shoot and we'll post some final pictures of this wonderful project. Posters to come.... Jon What material was used on the roof under the headliner and on the floor as sound deadening? Makes me Glad I am going back with the original Nocciola on 03872. Beautiful car guys! Scott
