To be honest, i wont miss Marlboro of the Ferrari F1 cars. To me it just summons up the old image of some stupid redneck cowboy puffing on a cigarette in a 10 gallon hat. Time to move on i think.

I am really surprised that Ferrari wants to call themselves Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro... there are plenty of companies that I am sure would be willing to pay for the prestige and attention that will come from a sponsorship deal with Ferrari.

was a multi-millionaire.. So just how stupid was he? Ferrari and Marlboro have had a good long relationship, and they don't care what you think.. Let them move along when they are ready to... I can just see Luca in his office now biting his nails because you all hate Marlboro... NOT!

You may be right but I wouldn't be so sure. Ferrari is certainly image conscious.

The image never did say and was not ment to come across as a multi-millionaire to anyone looking at him on the posters. The image was just a cowboy cuffing away on a cancer stick, a redneck at that LOL!!!:D

No. that said, should Ferrari throw Marlboro away? Probably.... There's lots of companies with money that are looking for vehicle to advertise (nevermind the pun). Why associate with one that peddles death and is controversial? Scuderia Ferrari is a sacred entity that is above a company that peddles such a vice.

Any day now Ferari will announce that Marlboro is no longer associated with them... Hold your breath until they announce it and see how long you last... I will hold my 10 gallon hat over my heart for you...

I don't necessarily disagree with you: Marlboro is locked in until 2011 unless Ferrari wants to write a big check right? After 2011, I wouldn't be surprised to see Marlboro go but that is far from certain. Smoking IS more accepted in Europe but it is falling out of fashion there slowly but surely as well so don't be surprisd to see them go. Europe is a declining market for cigarettes as it is here... Marlboro is fine though as they make a "killing" peddling their death products in the Third World. The third world is their biggest market and is a market that is growing quickly which may surprise many in this day and age....where the USA and Europe are declining markets for them. New smokers are born every day in the Third World... Are there a lot of F1 fans in Cambodia these days?

Marlboro will probably go in 2011 now that Jean Todt is basicially only a board member. It was JT's friend with PM, and JT's signature as Team Prinicpal on the contract extention that kept Marlboro on the cars. Luce diMontezemelo had already lined up another sponsor. As I have said before, I have heard this is one of the underlying causes for the friction between the two, Luca had heard complaints from one of Ferrari's minority owners (Dubai), and wanted to react now. Luca knows tobacco is on its way out in sports, not to mention in other areas. With F1's continued growth in the non-smoking Middle East, there is no where for tobacco to go in F1 except out. If people wish to continue to smoke, let them, as long as they don't affect health care costs and the smoke from their orafices is recycled through to their asses.

Think about this. I would suggest this bar code move is only to pacify the sporting directors of most every country where F1 is staged and will be staged except tobacco happy Russia. The logo MARLBORO is certainly more recognized world wide that II IIII III III I II, or whatever it is. This is only a preemptive move of the inevitable. Why else would this happen? Its a bit far down the road to start a new logo promotion, don't you think?

Irrespective of some of the completely ridiculous analogies I have read on this thread, tobacco is a known carcinogin, and should be elilminated world wide. Unless of course, we eliminate war, and we then need a replacement for population control. Can anyone tell me, which kills sooner, aids or tobacco??

Thankfully Marlboro and the "bar codes" will be gone after 2011, and I will continue to know bar codes are only my friends warning me of a double bagger.

Thanks for asking, feeling better little by very little, I still highly recomment broken bones over burns.

As for car replacement, not sure. When I bought the Boxer it was a bargain. Now they are a bit high and approaching what I think a nice 360 spider will bottom out at in two or so years. There is something to be said about modern brakes, a/c, steering.

I do think 360's will bottom out as the new models like the F430 replacement are introduced that are even more out of reach for an average car nut. You may know I have some molds in a warehouse in Phoenix that will duplicate a 288 GTO Evoluzione, so that could be a possibility. Roll cage, fuell cell, I might even feel comfortable in a small car again.

Ron, great to hear that you are feeling better pal. You're lucky to be alive as there was nothing left of the poor boxer...

The molds in the PHX warehouse sound awesome... Are you looking for a burned 308 GTB to be the donor car?

Owww, don't mentioned the word "burned". One with no frame damage, but that has a body that needs replacement. I would not want to destroy a nice 308/328.
