+1. More power and less weight...it's what I would expect. From a dig though the GTR is going to take it for the first while.
Haha you're too harsh. GTR is also an amazing machine and it looks good in person. Fast but not as fast compared to 458. But I heard the new GTR (2012 model V Spec, I guess) is much more FASTER.
Although I wish all a long and healthy life, no one will live long enough to witness the last fastest car. Speaking for myself, as is the case during sex, speed isn't always the most important thing. Best
I drive a GTR and of course would rather drive a 458, but the GTR has 4 seats, a big trunk, awd and you can use it year round easily. On top of that its $70k less than a 911 turbo and a condo or so less than a 458 With $1000 and a Cobb ECU flash you bring an 09 up to nearly 600HP and the outcome here changes (17psi will trap around 124.5mph). 2012-2013 will be about that quick stock (lower psi from factory, but freer breathing). Exhaust and tune is enough to pull a ton of performance out of any model GTR (if for some reason 11.8@119 stock, the slowest any model GTR will cover the quarter, isn't quick enough) Doesn't matter though... The 458 is still probably the greatest modern ferrari all around, IMO, and is an epic car no matter what (obviously). Truly a work of automotive art. Very few people will be in a position where they can afford a 458 and then even fewer where they can somehow be wealthy enough to own one, but ONLY own that car. For people that can actually by a 458, it isn't a "rather have this than that" discussion anyway. They can buy both . For people that can't afford the 458 (most of us) the argument is pretty academic I met a guy who bought a Cali recently and we were chatting about cars... I mentioned the GTR (and the Evo and NSXs I've owned in the past) and he had nothing but great things to say about all of them. Real enthusiasts, and especially real enthusiasts with real money, appreciate any great performance car IMO. Few of us would pass up the opportunity to own the latest and greatest ferraris if we had the money; that goes without saying. Doesn't mean that the ton of other great performance cars (that normal people can maybe afford) cant be special in their own right.
I like both, for different reasons. The Skyline/GTR history is fascinating to me. An Evo or NSX on the other hand... I'm a "real enthusiast" & can't stand those things.
Evo I can see it... NSX? To each his own, but that's incomprehensible to me. IMO NSX is more historically significant, and much more "pure" than GTR could ever be (and I love them all really)
Nothing wrong with the GT-r. I always think these kinds of demonstrations are meaningless. It doesn't matter if one guy's shlong is longer than another guy if he can't use it properly.
You have a point. No doubt and no reason for agrue. 458 is still the sexiest supercar ever made (in my own opinion).
+1 I have an evo and I love it NSX and GTR are really cool The 458 is a real head turner and would defi get one when I can
A real enthusiast would support the NsX and the little 2 litre engines that can give a run on the tracks with a 458 Everyone is entitled to their opinions
GTR is an "affordable" supercar. Just doesn't melt my butter. Rather have my 360 spider or my Boxster S. To me a sports car is top down driving. I have got the track thing pretty much out of my system but I would take a 458 spider to the track to see how it handles there...at once. GTR would be fun track car if you are into that.
Absolutely!!! I wouldn't care if the GTR has a warp drive attached to it. I had a GTR for 4 months. That was a Loooooooooooooong 4 months.
I see the GTR as comparable to a 911. A car that you dive to Walmart with kids in the back in 2" of snow. Seems odd to compare direct against any 2 seater IMO because the mission statement is so radically different. If you have a garage bay and room for a pure toy, of course a Ferrari, or any impractical fair weather car (2 seats, no trunk, expensive to fix, rwd, etc) is great... Or if you live somewhere with year round sun and your "daily drive" is a low pressure 10 mile country road or highway run. Everything else is subjective and "YMMV" of course. Show me any car and I can find you someone who hates it, had it and got rid of it, wouldn't take it for any money, etc (yes, even ferraris - I personally know people who have owned F355s and F360s and consider it as bad a time of their life as their first marriage. ) I suspect this will be rare with the F458 (excepting the guys who had them spontaneously combust I'm sure ), but the F458 is about as great as a supercar can be and is priced accordingly It's precisely because of cars like the GTR, NSX, 911 and R8 that Ferrari has been forced to get better IMO.
