Same gap as champion, but I never gapped itridiummplugs at least on turbo cars. On the 348 it can't hurt to gap them. The factory iridium gap alis slightly larger than the spec calls for. I have run the car gapped and not gapped. Did I notice anything, nope.

Maybe read what Ferrari says and ignore incorrect information on other threads.

So I guess when Ferrari establishes a correct gap they are full of **** and you know better?

    Good to know.

It couldn't be easier. Ferrari put a big label under the hood with among other things the correct spark plug gap. It isn't a Champion gap, it is for all plugs.

Better to use the information they supply than all the ill informed misinformation you are getting here.

If you ask NGK they will give you the Ferrari spec. Might as well just read it off the car.

I just spent 10 min looking for the label you mention. I couldn’t find it on mine. Can you share a pic of yours?

I don't own a 348. Federally mandated label on the bottom of the hood.
Additionally it is in section C of the owners manual.

No not at all. Let's review.
    • I clearly said said we never gapped them in turbo car, of which a 348 is not.
    • I clearly said "On the 348 it can't hurt to gap them." Use the factory manual spec.
    • I also said I ran the 348 with and without gapped Iridium and noticed no discernable performance, throttle, response, fuel efficiency difference.
Don't recall anywhere I said I know better than Ferrari, or did I say their info is full of crap. I did however say "On the 348 it can't hurt to gap them."

You left out the most important part. It can hurt not to gap them. Preignition is very destructive.

Instead of "On the 348 it can't hurt to gap them." I should have said "On the 348 it's probably a good idea to gap them as it certainly won't hurt."

My Irridiums are currently gapped using one of those plug aluminum plug jigs with the thumb screw to reduce gap FWIW.

Its worth mentioning some Iridium plugs ship with .040 -.050 gaps, yes gap is needed of course. No one is saying don't gap plugs ever.

In the specific case were talking about here, it is .004 gap difference between the Ferrari spec and DR8EIX out of the box gap.
I bet 90% of cars out there probably gave gaps above and below spec by at least that amount across all plugs all in the same car after someone "gapped" them. When I pulled mine after an Indy shop did mine they were all over the place when measured precisely.

The number of people who don't know how to use a feeler gauge, is it when it touches? is it when it binds? how much bind exactly? is it when its go no go? It is surprisingly large the lack of clarity people have on that and the plug tip is very delicate. If you can do it correctly then gap them, by all means .

For the casual guy who has never gapped a plug, are they better leaving the .030 gap alone? I say yes. We can agree to disagree on this specific plug on this specific car.... not a blanket never gap any plug thing.

Considering I’ve seen professional “high end” shops not know how to use a torque wrench, I’m going to watch some vids to make sure I’m gap’ing plugs correctly. Thank you!

Actual answer I got once when I asked... "What do you mean torque wrenches need to be calibrated, what kind of idiot are you.. the torque wrench is the torque, its what torque wrenches do"
