Cleveland Browns Favored in NFL’s 100th Birthday Bash Happy birthday, NFL. The Week 2 matchup between the NFL’s two Ohio teams, the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals, will pay tribute to a critical meeting between 15 future franchise leaders that took place on Sept. 17, 1920, in Canton, Ohio. Halftime programming will originate from Canton. Image Unavailable, Please Login Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has won three of four starts against the Cincinnati Bengals. (Image: Ken Blaze/USA TODAY Sports) This is not exactly the finest matchup ever presented on NFL Network. Cleveland is 0-1 after getting blasted 38-6 by the Baltimore Ravens. Cincinnati also is 0-1, having lost 16-13 to the Los Angeles Chargers when it missed a chip-shot field goal that would have forced overtime. Browns by 6 When Westgate SuperBook released its “lookahead” lines last week, the host Browns were 7.5-point favorites over the team that finished with the worst record in the NFL last season. However, the Week 1 results took a bite out of the spread. It’s always interesting to look back after the games to see the perception and what’s changed,” said Ed Salmons, the vice president of risk management at Westgate SuperBook, to Casino.org. “Next week, the Packers play at the Saints on Sunday night, so we put that game up at Saints -6.5. Obviously, next week, based on how each team plays and injuries, things will get adjusted. “Last week, it was Browns by 7.5. I think even though Cincinnati lost, they showed some parts in that game where you can see a lot of promise on the offense. Cleveland just got steamrolled by Baltimore and looked really bad, and (quarterback Baker) Mayfield looked awful again. I could see this line continuing to move downward. It wouldn’t surprise me if it went down as low as five.” It hasn’t quite gotten that low, though it did dip to 5.5 a couple times on Wednesday before bouncing back to six as of Thursday morning. With most bets on Thursday night games taking place the day of the game, the line could be fluid. Burrow vs. Mayfield The Bengals used the No. 1 overall draft pick on quarterback Joe Burrow, who won the Heisman Trophy last year at LSU and is the favorite to win Rookie of the Year. In his debut, Burrow passed for 193 yards and rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown, becoming the second quarterback to rush for at least 40 yards and a touchdown in his NFL debut since 1970. Burrow’s over/under is 239.5 passing yards and 1.5 touchdowns at DraftKings. Standout running back Joe Mixon’s over/under is 75.5 rushing yards. In four career games vs. Cincinnati, Mayfield has a 100.5 rating and 11 touchdowns (10 passing, one rushing), his most touchdown passes vs. any opponent. His play will be critical for the retooling Browns, who have missed the playoffs for 17 consecutive seasons. Browns receivers Jarvis Landry (1,174 receiving yards) and Odell Beckmam Jr. (1,035) were one of six pairs of teammates each with at least 1,000 receiving yards last season. There are trade rumors swirling around Beckham after he caught just 3-of-10 passes for 22 yards last week. Mayfield’s over/under is 240.5 passing yards and 1.5 touchdowns at DraftKings. Beckham’s over/under is 61.5 yards. Thursday’s game will be No. 15,771 since the NFL’s first contest in 1920. Over the past century, 60 cities have hosted 78 franchises. Including Burrow and the rest of the rookie class, 25,488 people have played in at least one NFL game. This will be the 94th meeting between Cleveland and Cincinnati, with the Bengals holding a 51-42 advantage.

Bettors Bullish on Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills in NFL Week 2 The betting public expects the Kansas City Chiefs to crash the Los Angeles Chargers’ housewarming party. Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Los Angeles Chargers twice last season. (Image: Jay Biggerstaff/USA TODAY Sports) The Chargers will play their first game at $5 billion SoFi Stadium against the defending Super Bowl champions in a Week 2 NFL game on Sunday. Almost all bettors expect the Chargers to be gracious hosts. At William Hill, Kansas City has received 96 percent of the tickets and 98 percent of the total money wagered on the spread. Those marks led all teams as of Friday afternoon. It’s the same story at FanDuel, with 96 percent of the bets and 98 percent of the money on spread bets on the side of the Chiefs. According to Pro Football Reference, the Chiefs are 9-0-1 in their last 10 games against the spread. Kansas City has won 11 of the past 12 in the series. With that, the spread has surged from the Chiefs being 6.5-point favorites, all the way up to 8.5 at FanDuel and nine at William Hill. Everyone Loves the Bills The betting public was impressed by the Buffalo Bills’ performance in Week 1. The Miami Dolphins? Not so much. Buffalo, which beat the New York Jets 27-17 in the opener, is getting the overwhelming majority of the bets against Miami, which lost to New England, 21-11. Buffalo has captured 91 percent of the tickets and 95 percent of the total dollars wagered at William Hill, sending the line from 3.5 points to 5.5 points. At FanDuel, 90 percent of bets and 92 percent of the spread money has gone on Buffalo, which is now a six-point favorite. The public expects defense, with 83 percent of the money on the under of the 41-point total. As of Friday, Buffalo has attracted the biggest bet of the week at William Hill, with a Nevada bettor placing $11,000 on the Bills at -5.5 (-110) for a total potential payout of $21,000. More Heavy Favorites Bettors expect the San Francisco 49ers to bounce back from last week’s upset loss at home against the Arizona Cardinals. Facing the Jets, the 49ers have attracted 92 percent of the tickets as seven-point favorites. At Fan Duel, where the Niners also are -7, they’ve received 94 percent of the bets and 95 percent of the money on the spread. In a battle between huge Week 1 disappointments, the Indianapolis Colts are three-point favorites over the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota, after being blown out at home by their NFC North rival Green Bay Packers in the opener, has received 79 percent of the total bets and 74 percent of the spread money at FanDuel. If Minnesota was playing a team off of a big win last week that looked really good, that would really be painted into the line. But they’re playing the Colts, who somehow lost to Jacksonville,” said Ed Salmons, the vice president of risk management at Westgate SuperBook, to Casino.org. At FanDuel, the Baltimore Ravens are seven-point favorites over the Houston Texans. Baltimore, which crushed the Cleveland Browns in the opener, has received 89 percent of the bets and 93 percent of the spread money. At SuperBook, the line is up to 7.5. Finally, Green Bay is a six-point favorite over the Detroit Lions at FanDuel and -6.5 at SuperBook after a blowout win over Minnesota. The Packers have received 89 percent of the bets and 88 percent of the spread money at FanDuel. Plus, 92 percent of the over/under money has come on the plus side of the 49.5-point total. The total on that game started at 46 at DraftKings, according to Johnny Avello, its director of race and sportsbook operations. That’s a pretty big move on the over,” Avello told Casino.org. “Any doubters for (Aaron) Rodgers, I think he put that to rest.” At BetMGM, the Atlanta Falcons-Dallas Cowboys game is +400 to be the highest-scoring game of the week. That total has been set at 54.5 points.
How did Tyreek Hill get away with removing his helmet and no penalty? That was critical as KC would not have been able to go for 2 to tie the game.
Exactly. That will be a mistake picked up at the head office for sure. KC comes through in the end. 3 long kicks to win at the end.
As someone whose favorite teams are the Miami Dolphins and whoever is playing the New England Patriots, I want to thank the Seattle Seahawks for hanging on by the hairs on their chinny-chin-chins! And as a 24-year-resident of the Atlanta area, I'm glad that I never became a Falcons fan. From 1998 to 2016 to yesterday, they are such a frustrating team, experts at pulling defeat from the jaws of victory. I once knew a fellow who called them the "Falcoons", and I think the nickname fits.
So I hear it's another year of "We gotta coach and practice better". lol And now that Watt's gone woke, he sounds like just another angry guy.
