I would be one who would have liked to see the dark blue cloth used for the interior. Especially with that exterior color; still the one word that comes to mind when you see the work done on these Dino models here is meticulous! Are those "DINO206' California black plates legit with seven characters? I only ever recall seeing the three letters followed by three numbers style of lic plate...
The 206 is slowly moving along. Everything on the 206 seems to take 4 times as long as a 246. I spent 2 days just aligning the rear trunk. If I would of used the same holes from the factory it would of been 1/4" off! I got the vent windows in and the side glass is very tricky to get it in with the vent window in place. I finally received my rebuilt shocks after 6 months of waiting, and once I get the keepers plated I can finally finish the suspension and get it on the ground. Finally here! As you can see there is quite a bit off difference between these and 246 shocks. Image Unavailable, Please Login
...Ah the trunk lid alignment!!! what a poor original design & yes, everything really does take 4 times as long... Knowing how difficult a 206 restoration is compared to a 246, you've done a remarkable job. Truly world class, great work!
Jon, In your second photo down I can see the bolt coming out of the rear of the trunk button bent about 60 degrees so it presses on the release latch. When I disassembled mine some years ago, it was the same and I thought there is no way this is original... But it is!!
I finished with the suspension, brakes and getting all the brake lines fitted. Finally 0136 is on the ground, looking a little high until the engine gets put in and the suspension settles. The seat rails are getting reworked as they had too much slop in them. All that is really left is seats, door panels, Wipers and electrical check. Then the motor goes in. It's first outing will be Bella Italia in San Diego. Always a fun event. This is my first total restoration on a 206 and in my opinion was harder than a 246 even though much simpler. I know the lock tabs are not on the front brake discs, they are on order!) Jon, thanks for the continuing joy and inspiration your posts provide. As noted previously, you make it all look so easy but we all know it isn't. John in CT.
Jon, When seeing all the differences between the 206 and the 246 with you, I was amazed. I had no idea how different they were. I think a thread with pics showing detailed differences would be AWESOME!!!! Shawn
There will be some updates and photos soon. I'm changing the interior to cloth seats and no leather to make original as my plan was to take it to Monterey.
I'm trying to finish the 206 so I can take it to Monterey this summer. I need the following parts if anyone can help me. 1. Voltage regulator cover (with FIAT stamped into it. 2. The cover for the firewall alternator wire junction box. (Somebody was making some reproductions I thought 3. 1 show condition Carrello headlight. I have yellow ones now on the car but it wasn't delivered to France although I love the yellow headlights!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello Jon I couldn't find the cover for the connection box, so I did a 3D print of one and the result was excellent (with a little hand finish). Good luck. Regards, Alvaro
I can help if you have a sample, or (I'm not sure if my car has the same cover) but I can check it out if you send me a picture of yours.
