Hi Family, Stopping in to say hello and would like to see if any of you could help me with some items please. Recently purchased an F8 Spider. Very happy with the car. Been heavy on the forums researching number of items and wanted to dive in a little more. Audio - I have the standard system which has a lot of room for improvement. I don’t want to cut up the car. Anyone had any decent results with just changing the stock speakers to some better ones? Is it necessary to change amp? Also is there existing wiring available for the rear pillars? I believe they are 3” size and are empty unless you have the JBL System. Exterior - I for sure want the carbon fibre trunk lid cover. Which covers the Matt black metal strip by the windshield. I saw Novitec do this. Not sure how this fixes? Assuming adhesive. Does it leave a mess if removed or reversible? Anyone installed a lip spoiler on the rear? I feel like a carbon lip could look good. I have seen Novitec and Mansory soft kit do one. Mansory usually create monstrosities but that small lip spoiler they have is decent minus the mansory logo. The novitec one looks like a lame attempt but still something. I can’t find any real life pictures of either if anyone has done these installs please link me to some pics. Or any other lip spoilers that look good? Thanks Exhaust - What is the least intrusive reversible uplift that can be done here? Has anyone worked out how to control the flaps? Do either the capristo or novitec controller work on the stock system. The best sounding systems I’ve heard online are Novitec and Gintani. Anyone had any luck with just changing to a sports cat? Anyone passed MOT with a 100 or 200 cell sports cat? Any other low intrusive methods of getting a bit more sound? What is the fabspeed xpipe how does that work and what does it replace? lots to unpack here. I’ve done my best to deep dive through the forums but not getting to exactly what I need. Any help on these matters would be appreciated. Thanks
Audio- don't know. Have never turned mine on and it's the JBL one. The radio will NEVER be on while I own the car. Makes no sense to me. Exterior- The hood piece is a stick on application. Best to do over PPF as it WILL stick VERY strongly and cause damage to surface below if ever attempted to remove. So it's better to just have to redo the PPF. As for aftermarket spoilers; yuck. Not my thing. Exhaust- No, there is no available least intrusive that has been made yet. And so far, they all cause mechanical and or electric issues and void the warranty. Many of us waiting for a proper, functional upgrade for the F8 but it may never come.
As far as least obtrusive for exhaust here is THE ONLY thing you can do that "might not" affect warranty and need no ECU tune. All it does is removes the muffler and the cats, GPF and valves all still work. $1757 for 2 tubes...ridiculous pricing for 2 tubes! I've never heard the actual sound difference and do not know anyone that has only replaced the muffler with these tubes on a F8. https://www.fabspeed.com/ferrari-f8-tributo-rear-center-muffler-bypass-x-pipe-2020/
Ya, I’d love to hear from someone who has done this… I would do this one IF it sounded noticeably better and good… and of course if it caused no mechanical/electrical issues to other parts and systems. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
OPF simulator kit is being developed by some companies in Europe. It will be a plug and play option. No ECU calibration required.
Why not just drive/enjoy it the way it was built? Turns out Ferrari is pretty good at designing and building high performance exotic cars
I’m with that and agree. But I’d do an exhaust if it was easy, cheap and flawless—- obv a dream Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I put a Capristo on my 355- only because the OEM was delaminating- The Capristo was cheaper and lighter than OEM- And sounds fantastic- No issues- But if OEM had been fine I would not have messed with it- There are two kinds of Ferrari owners- neither is bad- those who enjoy the cars the way they were built- and those that constantly want to **** with them and then piss and moan when they get a CEL or other warning lights- Older cars need to be messed with in some cases- i.e. Hill Engineering parts etc. With an F8 I would leave it hell alone and drive it- as far as "audio" I've never even turned the "Audio" on in either my 355 or 458 - But I realize some people enjoy listening to music at a high quality while they drive- there are lots of options to optimize the audio quality- but I doubt the teams in Maranello are sitting around stressed about audio system optimization- At least I hope not! Cheers and good luck
Thanks all for your replies. Appreciate your help. So after some further thought. Going to leave the audio as is and not going to F about with the pipes either. However if anyone has done the Fabspeed mod let’s hear more about it. 100% want to do the carbon trunk lid cover and some form of lip spoiler. Going to PPF the car before these items. Also want to get the Italy badge too for the rear. @Marty305 i checked out the SRM lip spoiler. Looks good but different weave to the Ferrari weave. I have full exterior carbon options on the car so would be good to match. Leaning mostly towards the soft Mansory lip spoiler. Anyone installed one? Thanks
I was at a car show today a blue F8 had the spoiler on it. Here is a video to show comparison to OEM carbon. Pretty close match at the price point they are selling it for. https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__youtube.com_shorts_UQZL9oAuNOw-3Fsi-3Dbbid3aDHzAFpZDlI&d=DwMCaQ&c=euGZstcaTDllvimEN8b7jXrwqOf-v5A_CdpgnVfiiMM&r=LOCWgBy70DFGyYZEblInVydzkITG8e7Jwwxa8ajFZCI&m=6kR-lya4WnYn5rp6ZGZ7uiN1RyxaRO4Fr_BJuC1Gp04sFsXEWh-7ju8OI0PS-QWv&s=kF2f7Q1kZXOVXKQfbHZWYIyCMoIhVyFzxQ-xf6nm2Rc&e=
pretty damn good match there. I’ve got the same TDF blu too. Did you get any more pics or vids from the back? Thanks
@c0bretti Anytime you do anything with the OPF's/Cats on this platform you will need some type of Tectronic or OBD Dongle to get rid of the cat/opf related errors. With that being said. The Fabspeed X-pipe would be the most budget friendly upgrade to change the Exhaust note on the F8 with out the need for a Tune or OBD Dongle. But I fear you will want more from the exhaust. Capristo offers a valved system that will work with your OEM valves as it does from Ferrari. Combine that with the OBD Wizard, and you have yourself a pretty solid setup. Novitec is another great brand to work with. Take a look at the Novitec Exhaust with Flaps, and combine that with the switchtronic, and tectronic. Email me at sales@tagmotorsports for pricing on either setup.
Thanks @Marty305 and @Durwin@TAG anyone seen a novitec lip spoiler on a spider? Only picture I can seem to find is the one on their website which shows top down only. any shops that have the Mansory soft lip spoiler? thanks
The Fabspeed x-pipe is worth every penny. I did it along with the Forza Componenti exhaust controller and it’s fantastic.
