So I guess that Tracking/DE covers actual racing, or is that somplace else? By actual racing, I mean, you, behind the wheel, the car, the track, you know, all that.

Or do we need to go to Trackapidia for that?

I guess I'm slow. If I want to make a post about racing a non-Challenge car at, say, VIR, which one of all these hundreds of sub forums am I supposed to use? I'm thinking I'll just do all my posts in the "General Ferrari" forum and let you guys figure it out. Hell, I can't even find my own threads anymore.

I could be wrong (!), but I suspect he meant to say "driving" (as in DE type stuff) rather than "racing as in racing".....

The locals always refer to the VC hillclimb as "the Ferrari races" no matter how much we tell 'em different. When I take my car to the track, my buddies always think I'm "going racing" (I'm not, and indeed my insurance company agrees - another story!)

    Cheers,
    Ian

No, I'm not. I mean where you are actually behind the wheel in a real race.

Dale actually races in Skip Barber MX-5 series, but he also does tracking/DE events or use to. If you are racing the track and/or clock then that is tracking. Tracking can often be done in street cars with lower safety equipment requirements, but you can also track a full race car. Now if you are door to door banging bumpers against others on the track seeing who can reach the finish line first that is racing.

I can't believe we even have to explain this.

It is. We don't need a dozen different forums. All we need is...

    F1
    Sports Car Racing
    Challenge Cars
    Tracking/DE

Name something that doesn't fit into one of those?

    Historic formula cars.
    Formula Atlantic
    Formula Ford
    Formula anything......

Now, I can hear you saying that if I was racing any of the above, why would I be here? Fair comment, but at the very least some people race old Ferrari race cars that aren't "sports cars" per se....

    How about:

    F1
    Other Racing
    Tracking/DE
    Challenge cars (under "model specific".)

    My 02c,
    Cheers,
    Ian

PS; The reason that a lot of non-F1 threads drop to the bottom is because there is no interest.

In the Formula Mazda section there would be me and..... you know..... that other guy.

Keep it in racing and tracking there is a chance that some other dude(ette) might accidentally open it. Yeehaaa ! That makes three !
