NEW PRANCING HORSE IN MY GARAGE!!

    Hello to all our friends - we now have a new Cavallino in the garage! We went to collect it yesterday in Geneva after several months spent looking for the right car.

    This is a 550 Maranello Fiorano Package (lower suspension, stiffer shocks, bigger brakes and GTC wheels), black/tan leather, built September 2000.

    I look forward to driving the monster on some real roads - yesterday we just drove it back from Geneva at boring swiss highway speeds, and today it's snowing so heavily I can't get it out of the garage!!

    Wolfgang, now we officially have 12 cylinders... I know it's not red but I'm sure you approve of this acquisition!

    I keep on finding every possible excuse to go down to the garage and simply stare at the 550 from every possible angle!! The detailing on this car is so gorgeous, I love every bit of it. When I'll take it out in the sunshine I'll post more pictures, including from the side (the wheels are really beautiful)

    I can imagine that!!!! The 550 really is a very understated car!!
    The day i park an F-car in my garage i think i'll camp in it for the first few nights!!!! :)
    You need to hang up a nice yellow Ferrari flag to the wall!! (you know, the one with the black cavallino rampante ;) ) Or some sign: Ferrari parking only!! :)

    BTW: Black is the fastest colour!! No matter what Wolfgang says!!

    Andrea, you RULE! Black / Tan ist the finest combo you can get for a Ferrari. Only thing I suspect is that the 550 prices will drop down more and more the next months. Can get one for the price of a used 355 spiders in Germany at this time.

    Glad you found one with Fiorano Package...that's a very important feature to me on the used car market for Maranellos and an argument against a 575.

    You know, depreciation containment was one of my priorities when looking for a new F-car, which is why I decided not to go for a 360 Modena. There are 17,617 Modenas in the world, and with the new F430 out there the prices are going to crash especially in Switzerland where supply way outstrips demand (see the F355, which is now almost unsellable here). Besides, I already paid for this F550 LESS than for a F355 Spider!!!


    On the other hand, they only ever built about 3500/4000 (?) 550 Maranellos, and very few with Fiorano package. I think this car will hold its value better than a 360 Modena over the next 3-4 years. I'm talking about real world prices: one thing is the theoretical "Eurotax" value, but you know very well that to actually SELL a car you often need to reduce your demands a lot. In this sense the rarity of the Maranello should help find buyers when time comes.

    But now let me enjoy the beast for the next 3-4 years... I'm planning to drive at least 40,000Kms on it!!

    Congrats!!! Fiorano Package + black/tan is a very good choice.
    (I would never go for a red 550)
