    Hey guys,
I’m brand new to Ferraris and have been investigating either a used Portofino or possibly a new Portofino M. I’m currently driving a 2015 Porsche turbo s cab and finding a new allocation is nearly impossible unless you are ok waiting 1-2 years. Anyway, I have several questions, my apologies in advance, I have no idea how ordering a new Ferrari works.

First off, what are the wait times for these if ordered now? Does Ferrari sell them to new owners or do I need to have owned a car previously?

MSRP appears to start around $230k, correct? What typical options are these cars specced with and is there a list of options and pricing somewhere?

    thank you so much,
    Brandon

    Hi Brandon,
Ferrari is about to close the Portofino M production. If you still get an allocation, you will probably get the car within the next 6 months. I don't think, they will be producing any Portofino Ms in 2024.
Ferrari has just introduced the Roma Spider, which is the successor. You might want to consider ordering a new Roma Spider, which takes usually 1-2 years until you receive it after placing the order.
    Cheers

Hello Brandon, your questions above, and others that will arise when chatting about them, might be addressed by contacting a dealer.

Thanks guys! I just wanted some preliminary info before taking the next step of contacting the dealer. From the sounds of it Portofino M's are being phased out and wait times are similar to the Turbo S models as well. I may opt to stick with the used market:)

Do both. find a used Portofino / Portofino M now and put an order in for a Roma Spider for the future. Best of both worlds.

+1. An F dealer is the best bet to know exactly how to order and how long it takes.

Going to be very hard to find an allocation for a Portofino M now as the the order books are closed and the last of the cars are about to roll off the line. I have one of the last allocations which is scheduled to be built in August (I have been told that is when production is expected to end). I am not sure where you are located but Miller Motorcars in Greenwich, CT have had some nice pre-owned M’s coming through recently. Check out their site. https://www.millermotorcars.com/pre-owned-inventory?make=ferrari

Mt dealer told me he would not take any more orders for a Porto. Orders are open for the Roma Spider but reckon on a waiting time between one and two years. Probably intentionally done by the marketing department.:(.
If your dealer does accept a Porto order let us know and I will tell you which options I really use and which I wish I had ordered.

For those familiar with the earlier Porto’s (2019-2020), are there must have options that I should be aware of? I’m guess the magneride for sure. Also how’s overall reliability on these cars?

thanks again guys for helping the newbie out

When i ordered my Portofino, back in 2019, the dealer already had a few "required options". Sounds strange but the Porto could be ordered from him only with those "options" included. Which gave me no choice and increased the price of the car, of course.
Secondly, keep in mind, I would not know how the car drives without the Magneride. It was one of the "required options" and I have no experience of a Porto without it.
Keeping those points in mind, here goes:
I chose Azzurro California as the exterior colour and have received a lot of compliments on it. It was a historical colour then but has now gone into another category and is a helluva lot more expensive. I chose a black roof and I really like the contrast with the body. I also chose a Crema interior with black piping. I love the light interior and it is no problem to keep clean. However, with hindsight i should have paid more attention to contrast stitching on the seats and and front interior
The paddles have been sprayed red. Makes them stand out of course. i wish i had ordered red seat belts too. Would have added a bit of pizzaz.
Ordered red calipers. Yellow would have been good too. I did not get the side shield.
I got the full ADAS package with all the cameras. No regrets and would not buy any car that does not have these aids, especially parking aids, which saves a lot of scratches.
The front bumper has a protection film. Saved me from a serious scratch
I got alloy wheels but frankly that was a bit of a waste of money. my winter tyres are on the standard wheels and they look great.

I regret not getting Apple Play, which I think is now standard. The standard navigation, which I use a lot is sub par and now out of date with no updates planned. Bah

I would recommend you spend a lot of time designing the interior. That cannot be changed easily and makes a big difference to what the car feels like.

    Hope you can order one

Read through https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/portofino-m-configuration-examples.649952/ for configuration examples of what people ordered (mine is the second post). We've had the car for close to a year and have had zero problems with it.

Thanks everyone for the input! It looks like we are leaning towards a 2020 Portofino! Do you know if they all come with the removable windscreen or is that an option?

I agree. I hope Ferrari will release another convertible with a hard top.

Would anyone hesitate to grab a first Model year (2019) Porto? Certified only perhaps? Just digging in further before committing.

    thanks!

Only if prices of Portofino M's are in a similar range as the one you're looking at. Let's say you get a Portofino for 200k and and Portofino M for just 20k more, then I would go for the M.
If you get a Portofino, make sure you get the Ferrari warranty.

Looking at the prices for CPO Porto and Porto M it is much greater than $20k difference. Surprisingly (to me anyway) there are over 80 Romas and about 30ish Porto M's out there. Roma has an extra year of production but that is a big difference in both number for sale and the the fact that Porto M is substantially more expensive than Roma in the used markets. Guess the market is saying the Porto M is the more desirable car? Real buttons and last generation of the 'california' line seems to be holding values quite well so far at least.

I can tell you the exact delta on a 2019 10k
mile well equipped Porto to a 2022 Porto M same equipment ( roughly ) is 100k at the moment. I was doing some shopping this week.
